Massive deportation is next since politicians are now under tremendous pressure to speed the deportation of illegal aliens. The elections are less than a year and a half away, and this will be a number one campaign issue.

The democrats are taking pieces of the bill we hate most and sending it back to the senate. The funny thing is that I would not care about the bill if it wasn't for some ridiculous sections that the ultra liberals added.

How it should be!!

The raids have existed since i was little. That is nothing new. What ICE is doing now is looking for illegals with criminal back grounds only . ICE goes to the place where they live and ask anyone in that household or building if they have green cards and thats how they are doing the massive deportations. Its not like they are just out vigilant looking for ppl , its not the way they operate.
I actually tihnk during the elections things will calm down so the politicians gain hispanic votes.

Yeah, they have. At work we have started using the Basic Pilot program that allows you to tap into the Social Security network to see if a Social Security number (being presented during the hiring process) is real and if it matches the name. There are also places that are verifying if they have a right to live in the US before renting to them.

Well, the way I see it, this gives notice to all criminal trespassers in MY country that they have one more opportunity to become legalized on their own dime, not at the expense of all hardworking American taxpayers. Take the hint and do what you know is right.

What's next? Absolutely NOTHING. The raids having been going on for decades, and in the large scheme of thing, even if they increase, the overall impact is minimal. So, we're back in the status quo. Too bad for those that were hoping for legislation :-( They deserved it, but it was a shitty proposition, so hopefully something better will come around later.

It didn't fail. It diverted the public discourse in varying degrees from all of the following more important and more difficult issues (among others):

-Medicare funding problems
-Social security funding problems
-Lack of progress in Iraq
-Loss of all objectives in Afghanistan
-Trade deficit
-Fiscal deficit
-Earmarks
