everyone I know, including many LEGAL immigrants, want the fence and patrols.

I think we need to stop catering to illegals. no more anchor babies, no more bi-lingual service jobs and begin enforcing the laws of our country. stop allowing the liberal media to brain wash people into not caring.

put the fence up. patrol the line. place snipers along the border and give them orders to shoot to kill. these illegals are invaders, shoot them for what they are. allow their own government to bring their countries up to par.

begin fines for companies that have illegals working for them. stiff, heavy fines....25k for the first offense(per individual) 100k for the second offense(per individual)

end free health care. if they go to a hospital and do not have proof of citizenship...do not treat them.

take all the money we are losing on their upkeep and put it into the border security.

The fence is a bad idea because it doesn't address the problem.

The road they are planning on building between the two fences is a great idea. It would greatly decrease the amount of time it takes for border agents to get from one point to another on the border.

Also, if the Coast Guard is responsible for patrolling our coast lines, to protect the country from invasion, why aren't the National Guard and Air National Guard being used on the land borders?

Shouldn't their objectives be similar to those of the Coast Guard?

There should be plenty of Guard troops to patrol the borders so that Border agents can focus on the few that sneak through.

first off we need to understand why immigration happens so that we can stop it, as long as there are incentives (economic ones that is) people will continue to migrate.
My proposal would be to increase investment in Mexico, help the Mexican economy to continue growing much like we did with Germany after ww2, the wealthier Mexico becomes the less likely we'll have its citizens come North

1. Fine businesses and contractors that hire illegals and deport the workers who are caught. Increase oversight of businesses likely to do this. Use the fines to pay for the oversight and deportation process.

2. Amend the birthright clause. A baby must have ONE US citizen as a parent in order to become a citizen--Illegals would have to think about having a child on American soil, knowing the baby would be deported with them.

3. WEEKLY sweeps of warehouses and construction worksites in EVERY state to send a message that there are no safe havens in the USA.

4. Stiffen fines and jail/prison sentences for document counterfeiters (birth certificates, driver's licenses, etc.). This would deter some (not all) of the counterfeiters out there, making it even harder for illegals to get fake documents.

5. Implement very tough sentencing guidelines for those caught smuggling people into the USA--This would deter some (not all) of the "coyotes" currently involved in smuggling. Use the money seized from them to pay for Border Patrol and the deportation process. Also fewer coyotes means higher prices for the illegals who want to come, cutting down on the number who will actually be able to come.

6. Allow local and state police the right to ask about citizenship--In Mexico, the local police can do this. The immigrants have no fear because they know that once they get past the border zone, they are "home free." The local police could then notify the ICE of any problems.

7. Deny federal aid to "sanctuary cities"--this might cause these cities to rethink their policies.

In other words, make the illegals here SWEAT. Word gets back to Mexico fast. Those here will inform their friends and family that it is very tough in the USA right now, and 75% of people who were planning on coming will change their minds.

What's your plan to keep Mexicans as well as Salvadorans, Ecuadorans, Venezuelans, Asians, Africans, Europeans from invading the US illegally??? Mexicans are not the only ones dear!

I live in an area that has a lot of undocumented workers (and the unemplyment rate is under 3%) so they are not taking jobs anyone here wants or needs.

With an occasional exception, these are hard working people who left a desperate situation to try to give their kids a better life. I just do not see it as a problem here and based upon what I believe Jesus taught, I do not feel compelled to get rid of them.

They also enhance the local economy by buying food and clothing,etc.

My plan would be to integrate them into society and then perhaps make entry easier, so the ones who are not otherwise criminals (and that is the vast majority) could enter and work with documentation and not have to sneak across.

Thats a great idea, to build a massive fence, then the Mexicans we've got coming from deep down in Mexico will just see the fence and turn right back around after traveling months to get there...........WAKE UP people, Mexicans are here to stay. no Pansy fence, sissy sniper, or ignorant white boy is gonna do anything to change that. I hear alot of talk about "they work the jobs that we don't or wont work." If we want to stop immigration we need to stop providing incentives for illegals to come here , end birthright citizenship, Punish business owners who hire illegals, don't allow them any services provided by tax payers (welfare, public schools, medical care) with the one exception of emergency medical care. Increase boarder patrol, stop sending our boarder patrol to Iraq to train Iraqis. I also agree with a fence, it wont stop illegal immigration but it will provide and obstacle and make the job of the boarder Patrol easier. I like the Idea of a double fence with a road in the middle for Boarder Patrol vehicles. Also I would use the Army National Guard of the boarder states for what their purpose is, I would build National Guard post along the boarder.

Line up motion sensitive machine guns every 100 yds or so that will spray anything that moves. They'll stop coming that route eventually. After the motion deterants place a 200 yd deep minefield. -mu-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah!!!!!

No really, I think that border patrol units who don't have their hands tied by some crazy legalities and can actually do their job along with the fence is probably the best idea. Of course, the illegas will just make underground tunnels like they have in the Cali. area.

Throw illegals in a camp like the one Sheriff Joe uses in Arizona. It's cheap and you can house a lot of people. Keep them there for six months, then deport them. Meanwhile, have them pick up trash on the highways during their incarceration.

I believe you are incorrect in assuming "most" for any of the points you bring to question. No sources to back up your faulty claim either.

"Most" have already filled this page with more than enough solutions. Its time the "few" realize "most" want the situation under control and are willing to look at "most" possiblities for accomplishing the goal of stopping the illegal flow and removing those already here.

Mexico has its own resources and could use them if they so desired. I believe Mexico is somewhere close to being the 5th wealthiest country in the world. They have the money, but refuse to take care of their masses for whatever reason. Stop the money flow from the US, whether it be jobs, freebies, anchor babies, and other entitlements as well as the invasion of those Mexicans who believe this is their land and are here to retake it.

Well all these folks are supposedly out of work so I propose the TexMex canal, 10 miles wide, miles deep from the Gulf of Mexico to the Pacific Ocean. Producing a massive border to cross, providing jobs and the shipping industry and cruise line industry would benefit as well.

Why dont we do like the mexicans do on their own southern border? They have armed patrols with shoot on site orders, tanks planes helos etc!! There are reports that they have even begun sowing mine fields!! Lets do the same why not!! Bet it be like problem solved!
