According to the studies in my State, they choose not to become legal simply because they do not want to. They only want to come and work for the money, and then return to their families. Illegals make it that much harder for those who came the proper way to become legal. They have been cutting in line. That's why the backlog with INS.
I wonder if anyone actually realizes that there is a reason why the U.S. only takes in 2 million legals yearly. Let's start with our resources and they only provide for so many at any one given time. Next those that are coming legally are both skilled workers, and eventually going to bring in their own families. |

There are strict quotas on legal immigration. It's not like anybody who wants to immigrate legally actually can. |

Its expensive as hell, really hard and it takes alot of time. Iv been livin in houston, wth an L2 visa(emplayees families usually get this kind of visa) my dads an L1(employment visa). this visas have to be renewed every 2 or 3 years and each time it costs about 10 thousand dollars to do submit them. once you submit them there is always a chance you wont get them approved and ofcourse there isnt any kind of refound. Now my dad makes pretty good money, we have a nice house, and we are having problems staying legal over here now imagine illigal imigrants who arent reciuted from a company, prob. crossed the river with not more than 1000 dollars and dont speak english. |

You mean What is NOT stopping them???
To be become a legal immigrant you have to:
* Have a immediate family member (i.e Spouse, Parents, Sons, or Brothers that are US Citizens or Permanent Resident. (Which mostly of illegal immigrants do not have, and if they entered the country illegally without a visa, their petition is automatically denied and they are banned for 10 years, if they overstayed their visa their application still may denied)
**A company that is willing to sponsor them. (Of course you will have to have at least Bachelor Degree, and Most of illegal immigrants have just elementary or Middle School education)
To have Tourist visa or a student visa they have to have at least a income of 10, 000 - 15,000 monthly and a established business in their native country just to have the possibility of a Tourist Visa.... (You seriously think that somebody having that income in their countries will be seeking to immigrate to US? I don't think so)
Win a lottery visa, but then again Latin American countries are not eligible for that lottery visa and if they are the number is really small
So if they do not have higher education, a immediate family member or a company that sponsor them, there is not way that somebody can ask for permanent residency just because they want a better life for they kids or for themselves, and if they have one of those 3 option the immigration fees are extremely high and the process is extremely slow
For those who think that immigrate to this country is really easy and that illegal immigrants want to break the law just because of the fun of it, have not idea of what is like don't have the choice to do the things in the right way because they are not given that opportunity at all. |

Its a long process to become legal, and it can be expensive with layer fees. If being legal was as easy as filling out a form and you are an American that moment, then more will choose to become legal. |

sometimes its cause they can't afford it and sometimes cause the govt only takes so many into legally and so they can't come. if they became legal then they would have to pay taxes and stuff this way they can hide from it but they would be treated better. there are so many reason s out there if they are sounhappy at home let them try and come we can take them here if they are honest and hard working peopdl. |

most of the time becoming legal is just not an option for them , some like to believe than it would be easy for them to just go to the INS and tell them : hey i want to be legal , which of course is just not possible . what is stopping them ? the fact than dealing with the INS is not an easy task and the fact than many of them would not be allowed into the USA ever not matter how well intentioned they are . |

There is a certain number of immigrants allowed into America each year.
Illegals thumb their noses at our laws and sneak in here, bypassing the waiting list.
They can't just go to the police station and say "make me legal." |

it's costly for the immigrants to become legal |

well most lack a good education. their main concern is for their children to have a better life which they urge them to go to school. and the fact that they dont have as much money they need stops them for becoming legal, also the laws it would be great if they could just go and aply and wait for a while and become a resident. but no its a long process |

The costs, the time, the responsibilities they acquire whenever they become legal and many other things. |
|

Yes we can
|
They just want to live here they don't want to be Americans. |

There's nothing stopping them. They don't care about obeying the law, they're selfish. They get the benefits of being citizens without the responsibility. |

Does America have a sign up that says to mexico to please send us all of your uneducated poor people? We can't even give care to our own as good as other nations do. 80% of the population growth in the US is from illegal immigration. We are already allowing our own people here to suffer to help out of of mexicos people, because mexico is so corrupt they don't even care about their people. Mexico needs to have their own revolution to get their goverment in order like America did. |
