I really love this man he's from panama came to the USA to work with a visa it expired last year but he stayed we meet early 2008 and since then we've been very close and we really love eachother. I really want to help him with his status even though he says that if we get marry he doesn't want me to help him he want to marry me cuz he loves me. What should I expect from immigration?? what am I going to need?? and how long after the marriage till he gets the workers permit??

IF YOU MARRY HIM, HE'LL GET HIS SSN AND WORK PERMIT IN AROUND 3 TO 4 WEEKS AFTER YOU SEND THE I-130.
THEN THEY WILL SCHEDULE AN INTERVIEW FOR HIS GREEN CARD.

I'd Be Wary, very wary, of ANY "ILLEGAL" looking to get Married for a US Citizenship.....I've seen it happen too many times here in California and it usually ENDS in Divorce AFTER the "Waiting Time & Marriage", can be up to "2" YEARS!

Since he entered with a valid visa that has since expired, he will be eligible to adjust his status within the US.
After your marriage, you will need to file an I-130, I-485 and an I-765. The latter is for a work permit, which can be applied for while his application is pending.

Oncve you get married, you file form i-130 and i-485 for him to get a green card. Since he has been in the US illegally, he will face a 3 year or 10 year ban (depending on how long he has been here). Meaning he will have to return to Panama for that period and then he can reenter with a green card after the ban is over. |
