I'm Irish and wanted to join the military in the states. i know i need a green card but what exactly do i need to be granted one and how long will it take.
I know i have to phone up a number (1580....) to arrange a meeting but what have i got to bring to this meeting. i meet all the requirements, i have graduated 'high school' with a B average, etc. what should i bring with me to this meeting. i am 22 and a single male with a couple of grand saved in the bank.

well , I am from Ireland, Longford actually and I am living in the states for the last year. I dont think that you will be able to go and just get a green card even to work in the military as you have to be over here a certain length of time to be to do that. But there are different ways that you can enter America like if you were to marry a US citizen or go to college over here. In order for you to get a green card you have to either be sponsored of married to a US citizen but if you have any family over here they can sponsor you but if you go through a lawyer it can cost around 3000 euro. Last week I have gone through the green card interview and they are rough. I didnt find it comfortable or easy they ask every type of personal question.
ring the american embassy in dublin and chat to them but not the phone number they will try to get you to ring about a visa as that number is like 3 euro and minute and it is useless. Tell them what you need but the easiest thing for you is to try and find a relative in america and sweet talk them into sponsoring you.

You must have a sponsor who has to file petition for your green card. A sponsor must be either US citizen or US permanent immediate family member or US employer.
