What do you the think the reason is that we can't get jobs to support the economy of North Carolina?

Hi, I am doing a project on the affect on local schools and the economy of North Carolina caused by the Generation Xers (also known as the Baby Boomers) and the Great Depression (1929-1943). Baby boomers are my parents. They were born after WWII, in the 1950's.

As for N. Carolina's economy probs, they're NOTHING compared to California.

I heard NC is a sanctuary state for illegals. I could be wrong, but if that's the case, that would be the problem right there.

If you do some checking you will notice that Blue states have the highest unemployment. Democrats destroy jobs - not create them.

I don't see any relationship to the Great Depression - unless you are talking about the one we are about to have.

It's not just NC. The economy may bob up and down but ultimateley, the USA is dead meat. There is one whopper of a financial crises coming in 2010. Both CIA and FBI operatives agree it is only a matter of time before someone sets off an A-bomb within the USA. The flood of Americans trying to get out of this country will be in biblical porportions.

Well, since your question is in the immigration section......unemployment has NOTHING to do with illegal immigration. Many illegals have been deported, and their jobs, especially in farming haven't been filled by Americans. So we can say that Americans are not looking for ANY job to pay the bills. The Government has made it too easy for them to stay home on Benefits, and wait for that cushy job then to take the first opportunity.

With more baby boomers retiring even if every illegal was deported, and every American was employed, there still wouldn't be enough people to fill those jobs. Illegal immigrants fill those gaps, and that's why they are so important to our labor workforce!

Even if every unemployed Texan had a job, we still wouldn't have enough people to meet the labor demand, even if we sent all the illegal immigrants home.

Nationally, we face a narrower gap but the same situation â€” about 8.1 million illegal immigrants and about 7.5 million unemployed workers.

So we can build fences, step up patrols, get tough on deportations and decry the social and economic costs of illegal immigration, but we can't escape the market's message: We need them.
