What do you think about POLISH immigration in the UK & IRELAND ?

Pardon me, if I'm going to offend anybody, but I had some personal, very unpleasant memories of them.
I once rented a flat with a Polish person, whom I thought as a friend. We paid a huge deposit towards the flat, which wasn't very easy. But as soon as we settled with the payment, that person started to bring her family and relatives from Poland. At one time, we had as many as 6 dwellers in our flat, none of them helping with the rent or bills, as all of them were unemployed, and silly me, thinking that I should be compassionate towards poor souls, didn't demand anything.
The result? After some time, when they all found jobs and settled down, I was kicked out from the very flat I struggled to get, by the very people I wanted to help.
So, do the maths, figure it out by yourself. In few years time, when the Poles will settle comfortable enough, they will kick the native population of the UK out of their jobs and houses. Just wait and see.

Here in the UK....people are getting hot under the collar as regards polish immigrants.........this country went to war because Hitler invaded Poland..............after this conflict we delivered the polish people from one tyrant, Hitler, into the hands of another, Joseph Stalin..................we owe the Polish nation...........and don't forget the free polish were amongst the most ferocious fighters of the entire campaign...............so..... LEAVE THEM POLES ALONE!

Hello, They work hard,not extremist about their religion,but you must feel sorry for them like majority of us our taxis goes towards keeping the other work-shy lay abouts foreign shitped that abuse our goodwill, Were in the same boat.Even now many of the Polish will fight for this home of theirs (Britain). They have never hunt with the hounds and run with the fox unlike most of Europe and beyond. Good let them come in their thousands.

Well i know that life over in their country is very hard and in fairness they are apart of the EU and most of them (the ones i met) are rather nice they respect our cuture as well its the eastern immigrants that treat women like cattle and look down on our culture and seperate themselves from us in our own country that i don't like. I do agree the polish are taking alot of work from the britsh i feel that we need to add a few requirements to the eu immigartion so not everyone can get into the counrty i also feel we need big changes outside eu immigration and alot harder boundaires like austrlia has. We need to stomp down very very hard on illegal immigrants

Since both countries are in the EU, then the Polish are not ILLEGAL immigrants. You can all go to Poland and work there as much as the Polish who come to the UK. Britain however was always trying to separate itself from the EU and just reap the benefits, whatever they may be at any given time in history but not give much back themselves and some of the answers here reflect this mentality. "It's good because they do the jobs we don't want, but we are now disadvantaged because we have to see polish, hear polish and read polish". I thought only Americans were so egocentric. I apologize to the rest of the people here who hold different, more postive views =0)

the only thing good thing about the polish is that they are here to work and that is it. they dont cause trouble or start putting up mosques everywhere. . yes there seems to be too many but that is expected with our rubbish goverment. my only worry is that they will start taking jobs which british people were offered because they are willing to work cheaper.i have alot more of a problem with other types of people coming to this country

It's great. they work hard, they do jobs that most brits don't realy want to do, they're polite, and in most cases, better people than you'd normally meet. Don't complain about it :-)

we should of capped the amount allowed into the uk.

When you job gets taken by someone from eastern europe you will agree with me,sadly this is happening now.In my line of work (hgv driver) we hear all the time.........if you dont like it we can get the polish drivers to do it at a fraction of the price.The truth is they can...but this is no good for the workers of the uk.I have a mortgage of Â£800 per month i cannot afford a drop in wages so i clearly am not happy with whats going on.

The polish people might be the nicest people in the world but that does not help me to pay my bills.We need to secure some of our jobs back.The polish are being exploited at the uk workers cost!!!!

They get grant to come to this country and steal our jobs . If you are a British person these day then you are a second class citizen , no doudt about it . Fact , you can't fit ten pound of spuds in a five pound bag . They should not be allowed to come to this country to steal our jobs or anyone else for that matter . Britain as become a laughing stock in the eyes of the word when it comes to immigration . The Labour Party as given all the unskilled jobs away and now said that the next lot of immigrata must be skilled . What a joke .

The Polish are taking over the UK. Should Immigration be letting so many Polish people in the country many are settling and have no intention of going back to Poland . They do provide the UK with good services though especially in construction and decorating.

They are Catholic. No problem - we especially want them in the North.

I have no problem with any people who want to come in to this country and work, we have Polish peopel working here and they are not popular because they work twice as hard has English people and output is doubled and they work for less wages, i are good honest hard working people. They do work English dont like doing, it reminds me of the time my dad came here in late 60's he was bus conductor, keep them comming, they keep the lazy English on the dole.

i think they are brilliant and har working so are slovakians, and for some it is even better there are attractive birds working as waiters looking 4 luv lol the average ronny wouldn't be able to grab them if they were british lol

Far too many of them over here. We should shut the borders to them as there is not enough room for them all to come here.
Why the Hell don't they stay in their own damn country!!??
We don't have hordes of bloody Germans, Dutch, Spanish etc. coming over. Why should we put up with it!!!

They're great people. Our best pals are Polish. Quite like the Scots in some respects as both our nations are fond of a drink (LOL)!

It would be OK if there weren't so many of them. In poorer areas such as mine they are not doing "jobs locals don't want" but they are competing for the same jobs! This is causing problems which the Government of course don't care about.

I don't have anything against them as people, they are all individuals, and I'm glad that th Poles helped us win WWII. I've met really nice Poles, not so nice ones and even one who was a neo-nazi! You can't generalise.

Put it like this I went to Lloyd's bank for a friend the other day in Taunton, Somerset and there was an A board outside all wrote in Polish not a single word in English.
Most our bus drivers are Polish and only stop at the stops they want to, this little old man rang the bell and the driver carried on driving, this old guy had to walk back up a hill in the pouring rain.
If you look in our local newspapers court section you will see shed loads of Polish names....

Well, not all Polish are nice and for the ones who say that they're polite, I don't agree. I worked with many Polish and after sometime you start to realize they don't like us. During a brief at work, these people only spoke their language and asked me to learn Polish to talk to them. I particularly don't hate them but their arrogance, especially the girls. They think they know everything and don't accept opinions, as long as it is their opinion. They also treat very badly other immigrants from overseas. Also they don't invest in UK or Ireland. They get benefits from the government and spend in Poland. That's why the social welfare changed the system. So UK and Ireland should shut the borders and have more control over these people.
