I'm agin' it. You could do your report on how Mexico has more money per capita because a lot of poor citizens are migrating out. Poor illegal immigrants are also getting more entitlements by sneaking into America so it's good for their personal economy. Other than that, I've got nothing to help you.

I think it's illegal. I can sympathize with the reasons people would want to break the law and get somewhere, but that doesn't make it okay.

One way it effects the economy in a negative way is to artificially lower wages - with such an influx of unskilled laborers those jobs become much lower paying.

However, because these jobs are now lower paying, the ultimate product becomes cheaper. So, anyone looking to be an orange picker will have trouble making enough to feed himself, but the rest of us can purchase oranges at a much lower price.

I would highlight the benefits they provide the US. They are a cheap labor force. They work on our farms, in construction and in our restaurants. If these business had to pay what Americans are willing to work for, prices for services would increase, reflecting the pay increases. They often work very difficult or tedious jobs, jobs Americans are unwilling to work such as crop harvesting. Again, if farms had to pay more then they do now to harvest food, food prices would increase. You could then highlight why food price increases are detrimental to the poor, the malnourished, etc.

I think it is great that your teacher is having a debate. It is important to research both sides of an argument, no matter what you think of this or other topics. Only then can you make your own informed decision. Plus, if you know the other side, it also makes it easier to come up with persuasive arguments that counteract their opinions. This is a very important skill when you get out into the real world and have to talk intelligently to people who do not agree with your view. Good luck!

You can create a persuasive argument as long as you don't mind lying. In reality illegals bankrupt states and our nation. They consume more in government handouts than they pay in taxes and many contributed to the delinquency of subprime loans responsible for the current economic crisis. 60% of delinquent subprime loans are in California, Arizona, and Florida. they do have a negative impact. look at all the hospitals that have closed down. look at all the US citizens who are out of jobs because illegals are here. tee is no good from illegals. god tells us to follow the laws of the land. and that illegals dod not do.

Hi, im 19.. came to the states when i was 9 yrs old with B2(Tourist) Visa. went to elementary school, Jr High and HS (HS diploma) completed all the requirements to go 2 college but when i tryed apply i was considered a illegal alien! i dont think thats fair because my family pay taxes ever since we arrived in the states. After i graduate from HS since i had no option of going to college + pursuing a career me and dad open a small trucking business if u had an idea how much money we pay in taxes every year its unbelievable. You kno what disappoints me the most is how could ppl have so much hate in there hearts. ILLEGAL ALIENS are not in the US illegally because they chose to be here illegally most of them go through very hard time and when u get cought in situation where your child have no milk or food. Ppl forget where they came from thats the problem how this country was built. I believe everyone should have a the right to pursue a better life.I agree that my parents was wrong to over stay their visa but they didnt know how apply for residence by the time they found out how to it was too late. now 10 years later i look into my life i feel weird, sad.... i consider myself an american inside but on papers im qualified as ILLEGAL ALIEN. I been here most of my life and i deserve a chance to go foward with my dreams. i believe i can give a lot to this country that i call home! ILLEGAL ALIEN are not CRIMINAL!
