Wow. I'm amazed of all of the answers to this query.

My God. How much hatred do you need to show. These people are people,--some ignorant--- but at the end, people who have a family left behind in their homeland, seeking, for an opportunity.

Some without the necessary means to come across.

Illegal is never good. But at the end we are talking about human beings.

Lets talk about Illegal in a broader way --lets deepen in its meaning--. How many times have you personally done or seen someone do something illegal. If so, have you gone to the authorities to report it?

Have you? Congrats.
Have you not? Then no right to say a word.

You may never know who is or who isn't illegal just by looking at them.

It may be your best friend.

I think it's ridiculous that people can come here and not even TRY to learn english even though thats our main language. So now I guess I got to learn spanish just to live in America.

Everyone should have a chance to come here, but they should do it the right way, not sneak in and try to learn the fricken language! People get out of their CIVIC duties because of that, like Jury duty, it's a civic duty but oh man, if you dont speak english you dont have to do it. It's AMERICA, we speak ENGLISH!

It's ILLEGAL, plain and simple. Everyone needs to come in through the front door. That way it not only protects America, but the immigrant also. It is dangerous for them to come illegally. And if they have problems when they are here, they have no legitimate way to get help or get out. Immigrants made this country great- but only by coming in LEGALLY.

I think they are breaking the law (hence illegal aliens status). They should hunted down, tried, punished, and then deported.

Illegal Immigrants reform should be thrown out. Immigration stay on but no more illegals. It is just that its not fair to everyone else who comes in this country for same reasons. Make the immigrants who wants to come to this country get the visas passport or residency forms,and more without having anything else free. If they don't agree doing this then deportation or a thousand dollars fine. Why some of Americans have to do that in their countries after all- It is because we do that by being a good faith to their law to be able to experience living in their countries. Why can't illegal immigrants change their certain behavior and their thoughts if they want to live in this country like every one else. Waste our tax payer for them who refuses to act on the faith being an American, a legally one.

Allowing it in its present state is racist and discriminatory. It's patently unfair to allow only those who happen to share a border with us to invade our country. Where is the consideration and opportunity for Zimbabweans, Cambodians, North Koreans, Congolese, and Armenians, who have it much worse than Mexicans, to stream into our sovereign territory and live off our welfare state?

Illegal aliens are the criminals who hop our border, or overstay a Visa, etc. I don't like criminals at all.

many illegals think they can come and all will be well. often tney get horribly exploited. i hate that as it sets them and thier families to be abused even further. then they blame the usa. despite things being illlegal they want us to enforce laws that they broke in the first place.

i am hispanic but american. my family had to work had to get what we got when racism was rampant. that said, i do not get and never will get why so many mexicans cannot fight back against the corruption at home.

if they come here and work hard they can do likewise in mexico. from running driving school. to medical clinics, to accounting to translation and stores all that can be done back in mexico. why not learn business accumen here and take it back home and compete legally with us businesses?

Who needs slavery when you can employ illegal immigrants. They are less expensive to keep; we don't have to house them, feed them or care for them. Our government does that for us. We can employ them for pennies on the dollar and make more money off their sweat then any plantation owner ever did in the good ole' days. We may have lost the battle (the Civil War) but we won the war. Who says slavery is abolished in America when you can get an illegal to work your farms for next to nothing. Keep them coming. Let the rich get richer while the poor get poorer. This is America for lands sake. This is the land of capitalism. The more people we can exploit the richer we'll be.

I view illegal immigration as a symptom of wider issue few discuss.

Understanding the structural causes of illegal immigration would help reduce the negative consequences of illegal immigration. The Mexican economy is growing slowly compared to its historic levels. Mexico's economy grew on average between 6 and 7 percent between 1950 and 1980. These rates created some jobs and a growing middle-class. Since then economic growth has slowed.

Mexico is a country of extreme inequalities and poverty. When people come to the conclusion that life will not improve in Mexico they will leave for the United States. They risk their lives coming over in pursuit of a better life.

In part, Bill Clinton sold the idea that NAFTA would curtail illegal immigration. Mexican growth did grow fast in the latter part of the 1990s but real wages fell rapidly and poverty increased. Also the creation of decent job lags far behind demand. You can blame the elites of Mexico but illegals serve the interest of the corporate interest that runs Washington. They use illegal immigrants labor to gain a competitive edge over competitors by keeping labor cost low. Big-business has lots of money so politicians, on both sides of the isle, stay relatively silent.

Finally, I would like to defend illegal immigrants. They do in fact pay taxes. They pay federal excise taxes and state sales tax when they consume goods, which is an essential component of revenue. Secondly, many illegals also pay income tax to the federal government. I know many illegals and the vast majority are great people who come to America to work hard and help their family's in their home country.

If the US wants to curb illegal immigration help Mexico's economy growth faster. There must be policies that boost real wages, job creation and income for all Mexicans. Increase funding for basic public education will also make a difference in the future.

Free trade will not save Mexico! Poor farmers are leaving their small plot of land for America because they can not compete with the multinational corporations that produce goods much more efficiently. Now with the economic downturn in the USA Mexico's economy will suffer the consequences creating more illegal immigrants.

Being this at least the 3392842889423 times i answer this same questions here in Y.A. i would tell you that even is not way for an illegal immigrant to become a legal resident if they come to their native Country, just in some cases that are few...
We need to find a way to solve this situation... a law or something that even is not what America wants, to solve this guys stay here. because we need to addmit that is going to be really difficult to get rid of millons of immigrants (illegals) that live, work, study... in the States.

I live in a small comunity in texas, where the population is a third white, third black, and a third hispanic, and i will say that the hispanic people, illegal or legal are some of the hardest working people i have ever seen. But American's hate them because they came her to work. I think that americans should look at themselves before turning on illegals who work. I see Blacks and Whites who get welfare, have no job, do not want a job, get free housing, free meds, free everything. But we do not fuss about people on welfare, we like to bash people who work their butts off everyday so they can bring in a small paycheck for their families. I would trade all the bums that mooch and take advantage of the welfare system for illegal immingrants instead. And the auguement about them not paying taxes is bogus, they may not pay income tax, but only 50% of americans pay that tax anyways, but they do pay sales tax just like everyone else. Now their are exectptions to what i have said, but on a broad scale this is what i have seen in my community. So i would like to see america fix its own citizens before turning to immigrants as a problem. But i would like to see no welfare given and a closed border, and pull america back into isolationism, it would greatly improve everything, we need to quit policing the world, let everyone else kill themselves off if thats what they want
