What do you think illegal charged with raping teenage girl?

NEW BEDFORD â€” A city man is charged with raping a teenage girl on two occasions last year.

Antonio P. Lopes Monteiro, 47, told police he once accidentally touched the 13-year-old girl. However, the alleged victim said Monteiro raped her on two occasions last year.

The alleged victim came forward earlier this year and filed a complaint with police.

Monteiro is charged with two counts of rape of a child with force and two counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14.

Monteiro's attorney, Andrea DeBries, said Monteiro knew a relative of the victim for several years without incident.

Meanwhile, prosecutors said Monteiro is an illegal immigrant from Cape Verde who did not provide any identification to police detectives who arrested him late Sunday.

Monteiro's lawyer said he has lived several years at an apartment at 66 Phillips Ave.

In addition to a $25,000 cash bail set Monday by Judge Robert A. Welsh III, Monteiro is being detained by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

He is scheduled to return to court July 1.

I am sickened and devastated by the remarks of george and physco. How can anyone blame an innocent child. I reported both and I don't care who knows it. Anyone who would say such a thing should be jailed with the child molesting rapist. When people say stuff like this, I don't care, it is going way, way to far. I believe what comes around goes around and I hope karma bites them real soon!
I do not understand why they put such a low bond on a child rapist. An illegal one at that. They should castrate him in the middle of the city, nationally televise it and make it mandatory for all rapist. Execution for illegal ones would be justification!

Well, that 13 year old girl would not have been raped if this illegal immigrant was not here. Too bad Obama won't secure the border. I guess he cares more about an illegal getting his rocks off than he does about a 13 year old US citizen losing her virginity to someone who shouldn't even be here.

I think he should be beheaded! Remember he is NOT here legally. So he has no rights! Dump the dead body in Mexico just like the mexicans themselves! EVERY DAY chopped up body parts are found on the streets of mexico. Well if they don't give a **** about mexicans why should we?

The point is that these crimes wouldn't have occurred if the federal government is enforcing the law as it should. We know that all illegal aliens aren't rapists or murderers but if the immigration laws are upheld then you wouldn't have as much human smuggling, illegal entry, illegal employment, identity theft, identity fraud, tax evasion, driving without a license and all the other crimes such as this rape because these illegal aliens would not be here.

Lawlessness just leads to more lawlessness. Just look at what has happened since the 1986 Amnesty to 3 million illegal aliens, now we have 12-20 million illegals. Imagine what will happen if these illegal aliens were granted citizenship? Do you think things will get better or perhaps these former illegal aliens will tell their friends and family to come over because if enough of them come over, you will get amnesty.

I'm sorry but I do not care if he's an illegal immigrant or not, I know if he hadn't snuck in the girl wouldn't have been raped, but I don't think the fact that he is an illegal immigrant is the big issue here. Because he is in America, America charges him with the crime. Then the court decides what happens. Personally I think it's disgusting (I'm 13 too).

Whoe ever said he gave up all rights the moment he came into america - I disagree. I thought the point of human right is that you ALWAYS have them, from the moment you're born until the moment you die. If the 13 year old had been an illegal immigrant no one would be saying that it doesn't matter what happened to her as she shouldn't have been in America, would they?

To be honest I don't think illegal immigration is the biggest problem in America, and we should deal with the whole rape thing first.

i know what you want to hear, but im gonna give it to you straight out. it doesnt matter if its an illegal immigrant or not. what matters is that the person committed the crime and should be punished accordingly. a crime is a crime, no matter who committed it. Obviously, not all the people who come here to the US illegally are mindful of the law, but you cant say that all of them are bloodthirsty criminals. yea they are illegal. but you dont see all of them killing everyone, do you? I know this argument is supposed to refute the lib argument that illegal immigrants are here just to work. i understand your point of view. but if ur going to generalize a whole group of people, then ur no better than the liberals.

even if he's is an illegal citizen, he commited a crime in that country so he is going to be prosecuted by that state law. even if an american citzen commit a crime in russia, he will be send back to court there
