What do you think is the best way to fight illegal immigration?

There is no 'fight', you start enforcing the laws, it's really that simple. You put the facts on the table, and the amount of economic burden it is to the country to keep avoiding the problem, and you put it in a letter, and you send it to Congress.
It's their job to consult with all the various and sundry learned august bodies who can lay out all the facts in great detail,
and start helping to formulate a plan.
My suggestion is 'tough love' foreign aid. No tickee, no washee. No observed progress, no more foreign aid. If all that foreign aid works out to is 'poor people in rich countries giving money to rich people in poor countries' then it's a pointless and self-perpetuating exercise, and should be abolished. In the case of some countries, where such fraud and corruption has been proven multiple times, they should just pull the plug, and leave those people to their own devices.
Turn a deaf ear to sob stories. This the 21st century, many problems that were insurmountable as recently as 20 years ago are no longer. Modern science and technology have come a long way in helping to sustain life in areas that were previously considere to be uninhabitable. Such science should be applied to serving the needs of the people that are genuinely having a tough time of it.
Make people responsible for their own future. 'The Government'
can't do it all. Since 'the government' is funded by US taxpayers, and there's no such thing as public accountability or spending controls, the question falls to you as to how 'generous' you're feeling.
Economic progress isn't magic. You open up businesses, and you sell stuff. You use the proceeds to build your business. Eventually, you've got employees, and everybody's making money in your business. The more countries that open their doors to business, and get their people economically involved, the better. Less welfare, more actual work, and consequently, more money in more people's hands, and less sob-stories.
Realism. As long as we've got screwed-up policies, there'll be a Mexico out there, ready to exploit them mercilessly. AND steal your car, if you'll let em get away with it.(Read about insurance fraud in California)
Our economy's being deliberately bled. This isn't 'foreign aid' anymore, it's gross negligence, fraud, and corruption. I'm for drug-testing Congress, myself, juuust to make sure things really ARE on the up-and-up, there. Maybe they'll have 'legislating under the influence';)
Civic involvement. The more US citizens that come forward, and start saying 'hey, buddy, you there, my representative, can you PLEASE explain to me why I'm the only english-speaker in my town'?, those kind of questions, the more they'll feel motivated to themselves study the issue with all due diligence, instead of just absorbing 160k/yr salaries without actually representing any citizens' interests, flying in the face of corporate influence, all that good Citizen Kane stuff they got hired to do in the first place.
Main thing is, though, get the facts on the table, and cut through the hyperbole like a hot knife through butter. The sooner that people realize that yes, there is a problem, and yes, something does need to be done about it, at city, county, state, and national levels, the sooner something will, in fact, be done.
I'm all for giving the new, democrat-controlled Congress a fair shake, I'm happy with what I've seen thus far...it's a good start... |

treat illegals in america the same way old mexico treats illegals there;; 1. make it a felony to work here illegally. 2. make it a felony to hire illegals.. 3. make it law that any child born to an illegal is citizen to the same country that the illegal is citizen to.. 4. make it a crime to give welfare benefits of any type to an illegal without first having them arrested. 5. Make a legal citizenship photo ID necessary to recieve any type of govt assistance. 6. Make irs report every ss# that kicks out as fake, and make law enforecement investigate every case. 7. pass the fair tax. 8. offer o.mx. statehood in a way that every one of it's citizens knows we mean it |

fine employers and landlords nationwide, offer money for tips, not allow children that are born here from international parents automatically become u.s. citizens. |
|

...Lovely...
|
I dont know..what I do know though is that your question is going to make a lot of people say mean things. :D I think immigrants should umm wait to get their papers fixed to come here legaly...and we should just protect our borders more. |

First of all the borders must be secured before any other measures are done. Then deportation of illegals in our jails and caught to be committing welfare fraud. Fining and jail time for employers and landlords for sure. A guest worker program would not in my opinion be a bad idea with definite qualifications and conditions of course. But again, before any of this can be done borders have to either be closed or secured or this problem will not end. "Kick them all out or Deport them all" is simply not realistic, so while it may be everybody's first response (along with shoot them) neither of these will ever happen so its time for some real solutions. |

Enforce our laws, we do have good immigration laws. Go after those who hire illegal immigrants. Control our boders. And deport those here now illegally. |

Make simple laws such as:
Requiring documentation and ID's for EVERYTHING. Citizens have to have ID's to get jobs, buy homes and vehicles, get credit. Make it where they have to have documentation and ID's for anything they do. If it is found that they are illegal, wages should be taxed doubly. They should have to pay large fees to wire money. Companies that hire them should be fined to the extreme.
Mostly if the documentation laws on employment were enforced, there would not be so much illegal immigration. Regular citizens who work under the table and evade taxes are facing jail time. But we are going to let illegals get away with it?? |

For Mexican ILLEGAL Aliens -
I Say Pack Em In Coast Guard C-130s
And Fly Them To The SOUTHERNMOST Point In Mexico
So It Wont Be As Easy To Return
They Will Not Be Dropped Off Just Over The Fence
With A Pat On The Back
And A Hearty " I'll SeeYa Tomorrow Manuel ! " (Labor)
Only To Jump The Fence And Return The Next Day
They'll Have The Whole Country Of Mexico To Travel Through
Just To Reach Our Border
Thats ALOT Of Travel Time To THINK About ILLEGAL Re-Entry
And Awareness Of This Practice
Will Provide Many ILLEGAL Aliens
The Opportunity To LEAVE On Their Own
To Prevent Themselves From Being Sent TOO FAR SOUTH
Of Their Homes In Mexico
OTM ILLEGAL Aliens
Will Be Returned To Their Nations In A Similar Manner
The National Guard And The Coast Guard
Have The EQUIPMENT And The TRAINING
To Effectively Move Large Amounts Of People
Our SOLDIERS Are Crammed Into C - 130s
To Go Overseas To Do Our Warring
ILLEGAL Aliens Shouldnt Be Treated Any Better Or Worse
A C-130 Can Carry Far More ILLEGAL ALIENS
Than A Commercial Airliner Or Bus
Therefore We Can MOVE MORE PER TRIP
Set Up (Build) About Twenty (Thirty) Detention Centers
Throughout The USA
One For Every 3 - 4 States (Average) And Then Some
Many Of Them Along The US/Mexico Border
That Will Provide A Constant Military Prensense
At Strategic Locations On The Border
2000 Beds Per Center Will Be Plenty
The Size Of An Average Federal Prison
Guarded And Operated By
Joint National Guard/Coast Guard Officials
As ILLEGAL Aliens Are Discovered In Our Nation
By Local Law Enforcement And ICE
They Will Be Transported By Bus Or Air
By The National Guard Or Coast Guard
Within 48 - 60 Hours
To The Nearest Detention Center
For IMMEDIATE DEPORTATION
To The Point FURTHEST From The USA
In Their Nation Of Origin
Airstrip(s) At The Newly Constructed Detention Centers
Built By CERTIFIED AMERICAN LABOR
Will Ensure Full Time Operation
And MINIMAL Taxpayer Funded Housing For ILLEGAL ALIENS
The Average Stay For A Deportee
In One Of These Centers Will Be Less Than 48 - 60 Hours
We Will Be Transporting Found ILLEGALS
To The Detention Centers
And Flying Them Out Of The Nation Round The Clock
On Military Cargo Planes
When There Are Enough Detainess To Fill The Plane
The Center Is Emptied
And The Process Begins Again
We Can Move MILLIONS Per Month In This Manner
And The Rate Of Return (Re-Entries)
Will Be All But Halted
Time Of Discovery To Time Of Deportation =
LESS Than 120 Hours (5 Days)
I Think We Should Start Deportation Proceedings
With ALL
FEDERAL Prisoners
State Prisoners
And County Prisoners
That Are ILLEGAL ALIENS
(WE THE PEOPLE Can Play That Castro Game Too)
Using The Number 20 Million ILLEGAL ALIENS To Start
Within 5 Years
There Will Be LESS THAN 1 Million ILLEGAL Aliens
In The USA
And MASS Deportation Will Be A Thing Of The Past
But DEPORTATION Of ALL ILLEGAL ALIENS Upon Discovery
Will Be Regular Maintenance Of Homeland Security
At That Point,
Mexico Will Be FORCED
To Deal With Her Poverty
As Thousand And Thousands
Of ANGRY, Homeless MEXICAN Ctizens
Are Turned Loose In Mexicos Southwest
After Being Deported From The US Southwest
Same Scenario In OTM Nations
As They Exit The Aircraft, We Will Issue Them
One Brand New Mexican Flag Each
Or WHATEVER Flag They Want To Wrap Themselves In
So They Can Organize Their Northbound March
And Protest Against US Immigration Laws
Through Mexico
Wrapped Patriotically
In The Flag Of THEIR Nation
Like They Did When Marching And Protesting In Ours
Efficient Military Scheduling
And Efficient Military Operational "TROOP MOVEMENT"
Will Provide Swift, Affordable Deportation
At The Wholesale Cost Of Military Freight
Humane Enough For Our TROOPS
Humane Enough For Our Deportees
Make Deportation A MILITARY OPERATION
And It Will Get Done With Military Precision
The Cost Of 60 - 80 Military Flights(Fuel And Organization)
Out Of The US Per Day Is A Nominal Expense
From A Military Standpoint
Simple, Easy, Painless, Cost Effective
Realize That What Ive Shown Here IS Easily An Option
For Humane, Cost Efficient Repatriaton Of ILLEGAL ALIENS
LESS Than 1/2 The PROJECTED Costs
Of COMMERCIAL TRANSPORTATION
(Greyhounds/TWA Etc.)
Cost Of Deportation
Is No Longer An Arguement For Amnesty
WE THE PEOPLE
The TAXPAYERS
CAN AFFORD To DEPORT All ILLEGAL Aliens
To Their Nation Of Origin
Below is a sample of homeland security items
in the FY2007 Budget,
their estimated costs,
and the time it takes the Pentagon to burn through
the same amount in Iraq.
* 1,500 new Border Patrol agents:
$459 million ($306,000 per agent)
Iraq spending equivalent: 1.9 days
* Container Security Initiative (CSI)
to pre-screen U.S.-bound cargo
at more than 40 foreign ports:
$139 million
Iraq spending equivalent: 13.9 hours.
* An additional 6,700 Detention Bed Spaces
to replace “catch and release” with a “catch and return” policy:
$410 million.
Iraq spending equivalent: 1.7 days
* An enhanced Worksite Enforcement program
to “send a strong deterrence message to employers
who knowingly hire illegal workers…”:
$41.7 million
Iraq spending equivalent: 4.2 hours
* Border technology to enhance electronic surveillance:
$100 million
Iraq spending equivalent: 10 hours
* 18 additional Fugitive Operations teams (raising the total to 70)
dedicated to catching the estimated 450,000 individuals
who have absconded following their deportation orders:
$30 million
Iraq spending equivalent: 10 hours
* Completion of the San Diego Border Infrastructure System,
including multiple fences and patrol roads:
$30 million
Iraq spending equivalent: 3 hours
And now for the grand finale.
Although this last item is Not the least costly,
it may yield one of the biggest benefits.
After the first 10 miles of border fence was completed,
arrests of illegal immigrants
trying to cross the San Diego border sector plummeted
from about 25,000 per year to 3,000 per year.
But of course the San Diego fence
pushed the illegal influx eastward,
into the (less hospitable) Arizona desert.
A serious commitment to border security
would require fencing off the entire southern border—
all 1,891 miles of it.
(For comparison,
we have 40,000 miles of Maintained US Interstate Highways.)
At $1.7 million per mile
(the cost of the first 10 mile stretch in San Diego),
the entire U.S.-Mexican border
all 1,891 miles of it
could be sealed off
for $3.3 billion dollars.
Iraq spending equivalent: 13.8 days.
Cost/benefit analysis, anyone? |

Let the goverment take care of it. It is a problem in the country because of the large amount ( talking millions ), so one citizen will not make a difference. It will take time but be patient and see it through. Also if you try to report people you could be reporting innocent citizens and could cause disorder and confusion, and be wasting peoples time. |

Seal the borders, there is no use taking them out of the country becuase then they can just come right back in. Once the borders are sealed then it's time to start kicking them out of here. |

dont allow more ppl to enter from other nations unless they are married to an American citizen. Those who are here who are married to Americans more than a year can be given amnesty if they are working and green cards... Single ones should be sent back to their own countries. We have our own citizens to consider. |
