What do you think of illegal immigrants that didn't crossed the border illegally?

You are correct!And with that visa they got a taxpayer id # or a ss#.So they can work and pay taxes.But after their visa expires they will no longer file,so free money for the US.

The truth is that only a small percentage of crossings over the U.S.-Mexico border each year are by undocumented immigrants.

Approximately 250 million people cross the U.S.-Mexico border each year, making it the most traversed border in the world. Almost all of the crossings are legal, for purposes of work, shopping, tourism, etc. Less than 1 percent of crossings--somewhere between 1 and 2 million per year--occur without authorization.

Overall, according to U.S. government figures, the vast majority of immigrants who enter the U.S. each year travel legally.

The Department of Homeland Security estimates that 75 percent of immigrants in the U.S. have legal permanent visas. Of the estimated 25 percent who are undocumented, a large portion--as much as half, according to a 2004 report by the General Accounting Office--didnâ€™t cross the border â€œillegally,â€ but simply overstayed temporary visas.

Overall, the U.S., the wealthiest nation on the planet, takes in only about 2 percent of the worldâ€™s total immigrant population. And today, the percentage of the U.S. population that is foreign-born is lower than it was 100 years ago.

It would seem to me, given the facts, that the wall we are building is a waste of money and a farce.

Also, this issue has been instigated by Republicans and Democrats alike to give the People something to get all distracted and upset about. MEANWHILE, the war is raging, we are sinking in debt and the very crooks who talk the loudest about immigration are robbing us blind. This issue does not have to do with anything but attacking a certain sector of the poor and needy with racist rhetoric and hate. By doing this it pits people against eachother instead of people looking at the small percent of people who exploit the rest.

They should be sent back too. People think all illegal immmigrants are mexican, but they are also asian ansd european and no matter what part of the world you come from,illegal means breaking the law and people caught breaking the law should be punished.

The harm isn't done when they cross the border. The harm is done continually as they use services like education and health care that were not funded for them nor sized to account for their presence.

It kind of amounts to the same thing, and I think before 9/11, it wasn't such a big deal. But, now there's a lot of public concern about who's coming from where, where they're going, what they're doing in america, etc. I think a lot of the concern is justified, too, one of the biggest millstones around Mexico's neck is the drug thing. They reported that their police are getting shot at and killed and that the drug dealers are trying to take over their cities. We don't want that in america. Do you? People that will do those kinds of things will do ANYthing...

But I'll try to answer your question through what I think you meant...

Many don't because it takes tooo damn long to become a citizen here. My uncle has been trying to come here (LEGALLY) for over 15 YEARS!!!!! His papers were turned to the INS over 15 years ago and they're still processing it and he is still waiting to come here legally!...the U.S. actually discourages mexicans (and other foreign aliens) from coming here legally because it takes years most of the time. If we made it easier for them to become citizens, there would not be so much illegal crossing. Wouldn't they want to come here legally and enjoy the oppurtunities of the United States freely than be hiding from the Immigration just to find a job??? Of course...it is partially our fault...

Of course, the U.S. calls them "Illegal" and yet when they work all the jobs that Americans won't take, the government gladly takes their taxes--????

I think that we should definately protect our borders but come on...what about all the illegals that come swarming in through the Canada border?? Why aren't we worried about them?

Overstayers are simply tryong to have a better life and a s you may know there are so many people in the uSA who have gotten their green cards through fraudulent practices so if there are keen overstayers who are working hard and paying taxes and being good people then fine them and give them a conditional work permit after which they must return to their home countries and apply for reentry a s immigrants and they should be given legal status then. Buty scrutiny is the best policy

Don't understand why all of a sudden now they are doing that. Doesn't make sense. I think of course if it's safe they should get citizenship. Why are they trying to illegally come? They know they won't get away w/ it.
