What do you think of immigration and illegal immigrants?

I don't think that it matters what country you come from, if you want to live here permanently you need to do it just like all of our ancestors did it before us, and that is do it LEGALLY! Coming here illegally already shows that a person is dishonest, I don't care how desperate you are there is a way to do it legally. If you don't have the money for visas etc. then I guess it wasn't such a good idea. With that said the majority of americans feel the same as me and just want immigration to be done legally. I am totally against illegals, including their children coming to this country and receiving welfare benefits, medicaid, and food stamps. That is for us hard working individuals from this country who may find themselves in a pinch at sometime or another and need support. And I don't think illegals take away our jobs either, because they are too willing to take jobs that most americans would never lower themselves to do because they think they are above that. A job is a job, and if you don't have one you should take what ever you can get! Hope this helps you out.

well I'm an immigrant but I did it the legal way so I'm in favor of immigration. I think the people that didn't do it the legal right way like I did are morally corrupt, rude and destroying the nations they illegally immigrate too.
What's the point of having people like me immigrate legally if illegal immigration is acceptable?

As an immigrant who used legal channels to immigrate to the U.S., which was expensive and time consuming, it is frustrating to think that the government may allow an amnesty for illegal immigrants. If they want to do this, then, they should refund those of us that have paid for our immigration.

It's simple, this country was built on immigrants. It is a melting pot of all cultures.

On the other hand illegal aliens are outlaws. They have chosen to ignore our laws. They take much, return little and their illegal status makes them easy marks for blackmail and extortion. I honestly don't know which is the worst; being a taxpayer supporting illegals or being an illegal blackmailed by a taxpayer.

I am glad to see you realize we have illegals from all over the globe. Many people don't understand that fact and because they don't understand the scope of the problem they come off sounding like racists. I honestly don't think it is a racial thing with most Americans; I think it is a matter of legality. My next door neighbor is from Fiji. He is legal. He waited 10 years to come then another 7 for citizenship. Every time he speaks of illegal aliens he acts like he had just eaten something bitter or like he had been kicked in the crotch.

I welcome every legal immigrant but when it comes to illegal aliens they could be shot at the border and it wouldn't bother me a bit.

The operative word here is "illegal." I have many friends that are from other countries. They came here with a dream and hope of a better life for themselves and their families. They did this with one major difference; they did it above board and through legal channels. We as Americans can not enter any other country illegally, least we be arrested and thrown in jail. I have a problem with those individuals that come here illegally and refuse to assimilate to American values and ways of American life. I live along the Mexican border in south Texas and see on a daily basis these events unfold. I know ("personally") many immigrants that have since taken the pledge to the USA and have become one of our own. I don't mean that an immigrant needs to loose their heritage, only that they become a respectful, tax paying, hard working American that is willing to fight for this great land; be it on the battle field or in the voting booth.

i dont mind but i dont like how some have like a million kids to get government aid , if they dont have money to properly raise a child then dont have them i dont appreciate having to use tax dollars on them while they sit back popping kids out, but then again this applies to people of all other races who do this too

Illegal aliens need to leave the US immediately. They are not starving in most countries, there are jobs available, there is health care avail, and there are schools. The major draw is the high income levels avail in the US.
The US gov is stupid enough to force us taxpayers to financially support them and their babies, so they come for the freebies. Free ER care, courtesy of us taxpayers, free food stamps, education, WIC
and they don't need to worry about being deported. Even though they cross illegally our gov looks the other way and allows them the commit felonies every single day.

I think the public for immigration. Most of the people here today have ancestors who were immigrants. in my opinion im a big fan of immigration, and i think we should increase the quotas and bring more immigrants here from other countries. Illegal immigrants on the other hand are horrible disgusting people. They are ruining this country and i think the public agrees with me that they should be executed as spies. Or at least shot when they try to cross the border

Wow, you've just opened the flood gates with that question!!! Me, my family, and my closest friends all understand why people come to America to escape the oppression of their own, not so great, countries. Illegal immigrants tend to be very hard workers and very honest people. The only thing the majority of them have done wrong is come here illegally. Immigration is GREAT for the U.S......even illegal immigration. But many people want to ignore the benefits that immigrants bring to our country, especially this year with a Black President. The racial tensions are really high since Obama became president, so all the propaganda towards illegals has spread throughout our media because the Republicans have this conspiracy theory that Pres Obama wants to grant Amnesty to the illegals so he can have their votes and win another term....all lies. The Administration knows that if we get rid of them all, we will really see our economy crumble.

Well to start off America its self was built on immigrants. So why try to stop what started a country? Also during the Great Depression many Americans didn't know who to blame so they blamed the immigrants. Now in the recession today people again are blaimg the immigrants by saying they are taking our jobs. When the U.S. WASN'T in this bad economic crisis did any body complain about that? no. Immigrants actually help out the economy beacuse they don't have socail security cards and they don't get the retirement benefits or they pay taxes for nothing in return. Most of them are hard working people that help out the communites. I myself live in a hispanic community with several illegal immigrants and they seem like close families and they help eachother out. They are humans themselves and they make thier own mistakes like anyone else. Many students with 4.0 gpas that want to go to college can't go while failing students get to go to college with their rich parents help. Is that fair? Also one last thing many of these people are coming o the U.S. for it's "freedom" rights. The countries they leave from have bad economies or they simply can't raise a family there and can't have a good stable life so they try to come here for more opportunites. If the U.S. wants to get rid of the illegals, I say they try to help out the other countries first. They always say the reason why they go into other countries is to help them out. Take Vietnam for example..Kennedy's reason for the war was to help out the poor innocent people there and make it a democratic place. Now they are finding out that wasn' true. This is long , but hopefully this helps you get a better perspective of the illegal immigrants side.
