If you are from another country? I'm American..just wondering if you need to go through anything when you are foreign.

Not Much. They hand out ctizenship to pretty much anyone who hangs around long enough. I know - I've been through the process.
If you can write the sentence "She has a blue car" on a peice of paper then congratulations - you are officially proficient enough in english to become a citizen of the US.
You also have a civics test, but it's a joke. What colors are on the Flag? Who is President? etc... If you're so stupid that you don't know these things you are problably too retarded to live (especially considering you are given all of the possible questions, and their answers, months ahead of time).
You can even take the test in a foreign language - you don't have to be prficient enough in English to actually understand the questions (see the first paragraph). |

Depending on the country where that person wants to come from is a little tricky. Depending how their local and federal government is run and what amount of money they have can mean a great deal. I hope some will answer and describe how it is for a regular low to middle income person in their country applies. This excludes major European countries and those of countries that have "deals" with our country.
Here is the website for the NEW Test for Citizenship in this country. It is not as easy as the other person stated. They did a news report on the old test and even 65% of Native born Americans from age 18 to 60 could not pass it. The new test covers more of the last 10 to 20 yrs of civics and political studies. Even on some of the current concerns of the nation. You can take a practice test from their site as well.
