The right to work and to earn a living. I think if you studied just the unemployment rates in Mexico and other 3rd world countries around the world, you will begin to understand and answer your own questions.
It is not very likely that a non-citizen would actually be able to run for any political office in this country or in any state for that matter.. |

Maybe they want the same things that we do -- a safe place to live, jobs to feed their families, clean water to drink, a good education for their children, decent health care, civil rights, peace, freedom. . .
. . .everything that we usually take for granted because we've grown up with them and never known what it is to do without them. How many of us have traveled thousands of miles each year to pick crops or willingly worked at minimum wage jobs to put food on the table for our little ones?
How many here have gone to a foreign country and struggled with a different language and strange customs just because we can't stay in the country we love and still take care of our families? How many of us have risked our lives and our freedom to try and make a better life for ourselves and those we love?
I don't know what the answer is to the immigration problem. But I *do* have a pretty good idea of why people leave all that they love and risk everything for the things we so often take for granted. |

They want to make money to send back to their families still living in Mexico and other places overseas, tax free of course. I mean lets be real, illegal immigrants are paid under the table, tax free b/c there is no way to document their earnings, since they do not have a social security numbers. And don't be fooled, Mexican's are not the only people that fall into this category...Plenty of other countries have people who do the same thing, but Mexicans get the bad name because they are closer. Its a damn shame that hardworking U.S. citizens have their money taxed to all hell to pay for services that's easy for illegal immigrants to get, but hard for U.S. citizens to obtain.If you want to live and work in U.S.A, do it the right way and become a legal citizen. But you have to wonder, what would Mexico do if the U.S. emptied its borders into their country??????? |

The generalities expressed here do nothing but point to an uninformed ignorance. If you go far enough back...everyone's ancestor immigrated to this country from some where else. Think about it. |

canada gives them just as much trouble to get in, (and yes we do get some). they stay close to the border cause they don't have the money to spend on getting there, besides if they go by boat coast guard stops them and marshals deport them as soon as they land at an airport, the only safe way to go is by land and to do that they'd have to cross the u.s. anyways.

The borders should never have been "loose"; Bad policy on our part.
The limit on LEGAL immigration should never have been 1/5 of our demand for imported labor surplus. Bad policy on our part.
We should not have our customs and border patrol wasting time gathering up fruitpickers instead of gangsters. Bad policy on our part.
Too late to alter the past. Lets get realistic in the present. Permit more LEGAL immigration, tighten that border, and start deporting any alien, legal or not, who is an ACTUAL criminal. |
