The labor movement established the middle class, And make ethical treatment for employees not to mention safety standards on the work floor plus equal rights for all nationalities. If there was no labor movement we would still be making pennies.

It gave my grandfather a loan to buy his first house because banks wouldn't lend to him. It gave him job security, a pension plan, and a high enough salary to be able to send his kids to college. It prevented him from being injured at work, as his father had been before there were safety regulations.
