I am against illegal immigration. The fact that you were allowed to stay here illegally is not your fault. It is the fault of the U.S. for allowing these types of things to continue. We should accept responsibility for what we have allowed to happen and not enforce any type of punishment for you. In fact, we should honor you for setting a good example of how an immigrant to the U.S. should act. You went to school, learned English, and became a productive member of society. If that was how the majority of our current illegal aliens would act, I am sure we would find a way to simplify the immigration process in order for immigrants to come here legally. That's all we really want, you know. We don't care who comes here and how many of them come. As long as we're not being undercut in the job market by illegal labor, as long as we're not forced to change our ways of doing things to fit the demands of people who refuse to assimilate, as long as we feel confident that we are not at risk of having our society penetrated by an unregulated influx of persons with contageous diseases, as long as we feel safe from terrorists and foreign enemies who wish to cross our borders and cause us harm.... why should we care who immigrates here?
Come on over to the USA everyone who wants to be an AMERICAN. If you want to come over and turn America into Mexico or something else, please stay home. We already have enough citizens who are too poor to care for themselves. We do not need any more. |

The law is clear. Not that it gets enforced, but clear nonetheless.
If you were so proud and loved the US as much as you say you did, then you would respect her laws and make things right with your status.
That would actually send a hugely positive message to the country and I'm sure it would encourage others to do the right thing. |

if you wanted to go through all the steps to become a citizen then I would support you 100%, but if you feel that you should just be granted citizenship because this is all you know, then I would not support it.
if you followed the steps and passed all the tests then you have truly earned it and will probably know more about being an American than most Americans.
I wish you all the best! |

You are still an illegal alien. Thank your parents for making you a criminal. |

You are a Mexican citizen by birth. Nothing else matters at the present time.
What you know is of little importance with regard to where you were born. I can speak 4 languages, this does not mean I'm French, German, Spanish or English.
You need to seek assistance in becoming an American citizen if you wish to do so. Until then, you remain a Mexican.
The law is the law, please respect and follow it. |

Unfortunately you would have to pay for your parents mistakes. You have a chance, but you would need an immigration lawyer to have your status adjusted legally. Immigration laws and procedures are getting tougher and it would be a matter of time before you were arrested and deported.
Good luck to you!. |

Congratulations! Good Job!! Now go on back home and teach the rest of them what happens when they try to come here and break our laws like your parents did. If I go to Mexico and break the laws... what would they do with me or my children? What's good for the goose must be good for the gander..... and by the way... Blame your parents, not America. |

If it were up to me, your parents would be deported but you would be given a chance at citizenship since you hardly had any say in the matter since it happened while you were in the 2nd grade |

Simple. You should be deported. Period.
WHEN you return to your country, you should not be penalized for your parent's crime as long as you did not stay in the country as an adult. If that is the case, you should be able to get in line to get a visa like everyone else.
IF, however, you CHOSE to stay in the US illegally as an adult, you should be banned from every re-entering. |

So if I killed someone when I was 20 would that make it ok because I'm 30 now? |

I am with you 100%. It is not you who wanted to become an illegal immigrant. You should not be penalised for your parents wrong doing. Since you came here as a child and make your way up to graduated with honors, I think America should welcome you. |

I don't feel that you have earned citizenship. You earn it the right and legal way when you are of age and I have no problem with you being here.
While it's not your fault you were brought here,it is your parents fault. Because of your parents criminal activities, the tax payers of this country paid for your education. It wrongfully became our burden. If I committed a crime my child would not be rewarded or be given special treatment just because my actions weren't his fault so why should the children of illegal alien criminals be given special breaks? |

The law says you can leave by your 18Th birthday and not have to serve the 10 year ban. You can apply right away to come back. Beyond that, any questions about fairness needs to be directed to the parents that were selfish enough to get their kids mixed up in this mess. |

It is the law. They don't enforce the law in Mexico, and it is horrendous. And you have broken the law in many ways. We don't allow anyone to break the law and then live inside the law and walk away from that Crime. Not the U.S., not Mexico.. not anyone.
The only way... the ONLY way you could have been here since you were two years old was to use fake I.D. You had to buy the I.D. from the Mexican Mafia types, and usually they can blackmail you. But putting that aside, use of the fraudulent I.D. means you are a felon.
Further, the cost of putting you through school was very high. Mexico want us to do that, but why in the world would we want to spend our money while a corrupt Mexican government official who doesn't want to educate the Mexican People get his fat belly sunburn while we work to put you and millions more illegal aliens through school.
You have stolen a LOT of money from us at this point. Take it and go home. |

You are right! Some Americans behave as ignorants when they reject all immigrants or illegal immigrants.
They don't know (or don't want to remember), that America was founded by immigrants, that "legal" immigrants is a new thing, and that many people move to another country because the situation in their countries is unbearable (hunger, poverty, violence, no opportunities, no future).
I would say that in a situation like the one you are describing (hypothetically speaking), the government should grant the citizenship. |

and who"s identification did you steal to work and pay taxes? if i were you i would get out of this country before you are sent to jail. |

You would still be illegal. Even more so since you are over the age of 18 years old. You would need to go back to your own country and apply to come back legally here. You would then be welcome with open arms.
All that you have achieved has been achieved illegally.
Please tell me, are you afforded the privilege of voting.... even though being illegal? It sounds like you have the necessary credentials to do, without, of course, being actually legally here. |

Yes, you "earned" it! You had no choice over how your parents came to this country and we welcome you with our arms open! Study hard and become someone important so that your voice can be heard by all! |

I asked the same question i said. . . . i have been here since i was ! year old, so i have been living here for 22 years, like you, I pay taxes, I have never gone to jail, I went to college but because i can't get financial aid and have no computer to do my homework, i gave up 2 semester, since i had to work allot to pay for my school i had no time to stay and use the computers at school, at the end i was so stressed out, i had to go to the hospital, all that money i spend and time, i felt guilty i could of use that money to help my parents, most of us are here and if we left wouldn't be able to survive some were we don't know. if i could get the chance to stay, I would do anything to earn my residency, good luck to you. |

How did your parents get over here? How will they pay the consequences for their "illegal" actions? I guess the consequences aren't that harsh if you can post this type of question on a public forum. As long as you arent one of those arrogant "illegals" that looks at American-born citizens like, "im doing better than you, in your own country" I dont really have a problem with you, characteristically. Also if you aren't one of those that insist on speaking spanish as if this is Mexico, Im good with that too. You obviously seem to have been "amercanized". I think you should be able to stay, but all illegals should be required to have respect for this country and its citizens through government intervention. |

Yes, I think you should become a citizen. You didn't come here alone if you were in the 2nd grade. But, I would expect you to do the right thing now. |

Gratz. You're one step up on the illegals who don't do those good things that you've described. But you're still here illegally. It's your parents fault for breaking the law. Apply to come in like everyone else should. |

It is irrelevant if you speak PERFECT English. I am sure you speak PERFECT Spanish as well. Your parents don't speak any English after 20 years in US , and it is because of them that we need to hear press # 2 for Spanish on a daily basis. You are ILLEGAL. You all should be deported.
Your FREE education was provided by legal taxpayers. People like your parents come here but REFUSE to assimilate. They DEMAND Spanish and contribute nothing in return to English culture. They impose their ways on us. It's BS. You are PROUD TO BE HERE ILLEGALLY? No chance for you, you're delusional. I am surprised you haven't thought about marrying a Citizen and having a couple more Spanish speaking beings demanding **** because they "love the country". Get OUT. |

You could have been here all your life...made money, houses, cars, speak perfect english and whatever you want to say........ BUT you or your parents broke the law already . This country does not care all you have had for it along your life, they don't care anything...if you are an illegal you violated their laws..........period!
Also, all the free stuff you guys receive is because of us who pay taxes all year. For this reason my weekly check get small for give taxes to you......unfair! |

NO, NO, and NO. Why? Because you are not reformed. You claim to love this country but yet you don't report your illegal immigrant parents. Instead you harbor fugitives from justice and assist them in continuing to commit crimes. You talk the talk but you don't do what you say so you are not to be trusted.
You took advantage of the law-abiding citizens of this country. You might have graduated with honors but your actions are anything but honorable when you are not obeying the laws of the land. If you were to become a citizen, you would have to take an oath to be loyal to the USA and to abide by the laws of the land and the constitution of the USA. You are already breaking those laws and that makes you nothing less than a common criminal -- an educated common criminal and because you are not here legally, you are, like your parents, an illegal immigrant.
Do you pay payroll taxes? If so, where did you get the identification and social security number? If you don't file income taxes with the IRS, you are a tax evader, in addition to being an illegal immigrant who is assisting the harboring and helping of illegal immigrant parents at the expense of law-abiding U.S. Citizens and legal immigrants.
You and your parents are taking up a place that legal immigrants should be entitled to. They are willing to wait in line and do things within the law and you think you should be given preferential treatment just because you were brought here as a child? No way!
Do you think it's fair to law-abiding citizens to have to provide identification in order to be employed and their parents have to provide birth certificates and other information to public schools in order to get their children an education, in addition to paying school fees and real estate taxes and Income Taxes and Social Security taxes and State Income Taxes while your parents probably got help from the ICIRR or La Raza or some other un-U.S. American organizaton that promotes illegal immigration and law-breaking.
You should be arrested and immediately deported, along with your parents and you should be required to pay the tuition that Public School Parents would have to pay if they wanted to send their children to a Public School in a different neighborhood for your education. Your parents should have to pay damages to the persons whose identity they apparently used to be here illegally. |

Sure. This is where I am a bit "moderate" on the illegal immigrants issue. Children brought here and raised for a period of time have adapted and USUALLY learned to speak English, work hards and enjoy the rewards. I am not opposed to amnesty for 18 and older people brought here as babies or small kids (no teenagers) and raised as Americans. Often the first time these people learn they are "illegal" is when they go to get a job. Their parents are responsiblew for their status, but being that they grew up BELIEVING they were American, and IF they can prove they were brought here as small children, then I am not opposed to their amnesty. |
