I married my husband and have filed a I130 form for him the status of which is pending as per the status online. When will he get the work permit card? If I need to adjust his status approx how much time does it take for a visa # to become available to him? Right now he is here on student F1 visa. Pls help me immediately 'coz I don't wanna spend money for his school fees just to maintain his status as he already has a masters degree from India.

Your petition, depending on the case load, can take several months. He also should have filed an I485 to adjust status along with the I-130. If not, there may be further delays. After the final interview, if the petition is approved, it will take 4 to 8 weeks to receive his green card. |

You should have filed EVERYTHING (I-130 and I-485 Adjustment of Status package) at the same time, in the same envelope. He would have received his work permit in less than 90 days. |

The way you did it, it will take a little longer. You will wait about 3 mths to get the approval for the i-130 and about 3 mths for the work permit. Usually you send all 3 documents (i-130,i-485,i-765) together and within 3 months he should get his work permit.
He can then work meanwhile awaiting the interview (in about 6-9 mths from initial papers filing).
