What is it gonna take to get this country back to the "good ole days"?

what do you mean the "good ole days"? This country has not been in a good state of mind since the 1800's and even then it was not very great. Think about it from the birth of our country in 1776, we had to create an economy from scratch and come up with some money for a REAL military that wasnt composed entirely of volunteers. Good thing we used that Money because the war of 1812 was around the corner. We almost lost the capitol in a fire set off by the British. Then it was the escalation to the Civil War states rights, slavery and all that nonsense. Even when that was over, we still had the period of reconstruction in the south that came to bite everyone in the behind because it didn't really work until the 1870's.

Next came the Gilded age. An age of a rising economy and
technology. If anything was ever the "good ole days" this was it except for our policing of the Latin American countries so that Europeans wouldn't sail in American waters to get their money from the Latin American Countries causing much controversy in the Americas. The Gilded age also meant the battling of workers unions with big companies like Standard Oil and the Railroad companies. This was the time that Large companies had to be dismantled because of creating monopolies on OIl and Steel.

Then the turn of the century. For once it seemed good until WWI however we didn't really do anything until 1917 when we began sending soldiers over and the war ended in 1918.

So began the roaring twenties a time of economic prosperity. For once it seemed everybody had money and everybody was happy. It was time of legends . Boxers, baseball players, radio personalities. The problem was once 1929 turned around, everybody in America and the world would be in a great depression. Many people would lose the small fortunes they mad in stock and ended up living in American shanty towns and hoovervilles. This was a time where making one dollar in america was hard and the electricity would cost 4 dollars. Unemployment for whites was high and Black people were out of luck as they would have virtually nothing to their name and would get less jobs than the whites would get as employers obviously preffered the whites.

Well the United Stets was in this depression until aound 1941. guess what happened then? We joined WWII. Although alot of good american men died, the war did pump enough money into our economy to revitalize it. After the war, we had to get more involved in foreign affairs leading to the Korean War, Vietnam, THE COLD WAR and other things.

The Economy has been really bad since Jimmy Carters administration and only had an upward slope during Clinton's Administration. The Iraq war right now has not helped and is pushing our comfort zone, but you gotta think about it.
During the earlier wars in America and even WWII americans would ration during the war.

Think about it the only rationing you have done during the Iraq war has been on gas for your car. Not food, clothes, automobiles or anything else.

Your Standard of Living has been relatively unaffected. The way I see it, if there ever was good ole days it was the eight years of clinton we got. Nothing before.

I'm gonna answer your question with a question. What were the "good ole days?" At the age of 60, I certainly do not think there was any such thing. Unless, of course, gas prices go back to 25 cents a gallon!

Sorry, we can't go back, but that doesn't mean we can't create new days ahead. It will take a strong person, willing to make personal scrafices and withstand the abuse of the ingrained political machine to make it happen, but it can happen.

Yes, we need the gool old days. You know back when you couldn't get into the country without applying. Back when we didn't have welfare and you had to work for a living. Back when what was mine was mine. Back when a school actually educated the children, yes we need to go back.

back in the days were you didn't have pay TV or the interent. You didn't have computers, cell phones, A/C in your house. blah, blah, blah. The good ol days are are talked about by people too young to know. The good ol days had world wars, the depression and many things that those who lived then would not say good ol days.

I guess the good ole days were good depending on who you are, your race, your gender, ethnic group, education, etc. Perhaps it would be better to look forward to some better days.

lower the prices of EVERYTHING, Make it affordable for everyone to live. Put people in politics that care for the country NOT the Money. Actually get RID of the drugs, and instead of hand slapping the dealers give them hard time.

The good ole days? You mean before the civil rights movement, women in the workplace, the end of the Cold war? Those good ole days?

Or do you mean the good ole days when legal entry into the US meant showing a passport and waiting in line for a day?

Whenever the republicans are in office prices rise to all time new heights, there is a war, a depression, and one scandal after the other.

It always takes a Democrat to bring the country back out of the depressions the republicans bring on.

So, my answer to your question is to campaign against republicans, whoever they are, and never vote for a republican.
