What is needed to prove that somebody needs political residence at Canada or Quebec?

In spanish, we call it "asilo político"; when somebody has to live out of his country, because of political persecution, because he/she is gay and his community does not tolerate it, and things like that...
I've saw at Canada's Embassy Page that they give help to people in that cases, and social security; in resume, people in that cases are fast assimilated as canadian citizens or, at least, as legal residents...
But my question is about what does somebody need to prove that he needs that help, that in his country it is impossible to live... Or, do they trust in the applicant's word?

Of course they do not trust the applicant's word. Immigration authorities are well aware of the "asylum schools" which claim to teach people how to make bogus asylum claims. This is why up to 99% of asylum claims are denied. To claim asylum, a person needs well documented evidence that that person is specifically threatened and the person is coming from a country where there are no legal protections or well-documented proof that the government itself is the source of the persecution.

Just because some religions frown on being gay does not mean one specific person is in imminent peril and fears for their life, and that they cannot obtain any protection from police, etc, regarding any threats, and is therefore eligible to claim asylum. Chances of political asylum are very, very poor. And the grounds of being gay are among the weakest and least likely to be considered.

There is NO general persecution in spain (that is known to the world) so you are not likely to be approved for asylum in Canada. If you are gay then you need to SHOW exactly how you are persecuted. (video and audio recordings, documents etc)

Since gay marriage in Spain IS NOW LEGAL there is NO reason for you to be persecuted. If you are being teased and ridiculed (by catholics) then it is a police matter as they are breaking Spanish law. Gays do have rights now. USE THEM

What you need to do is to STOP telling catholics that you are gay. It is well known that the catholic religion teaches its people to be homophobic.

The Canadian wouldn't believe this story about been political persecution for being gay in Spain. Because gays have rights in Spain plus Spain approves gay marriage bill 2004. Hey good try.

they do not just trust your application,you have to come from a country where persecution is well known,
you need elaborate explanation of persecution with proof. and in English= political asylum.

As political refugee you must meet the UN political refugee guidelines. Not just that, then you have to prove to refugee board you are a genuine refugee and not a bogus one.
