As a US citizen you can stay out of the country as long as you like, you will not be deported if committed certain crimes, you are eligible for certain government jobs and benefits. You can also vote. |

You can vote, hold and office, get certain federal and state governments jobs that are only for US citizens, more options to make a petition of a relative, you can get a US passport (which let you visit a lot of countries without visa), if you live out of US, you can enter wherever you want, if you paid the SS and have the credits required to get it, you can get the money in any country. |

I'm pretty sure you can get a government job without US citizenship, although citizens will be given first preference.
However, you will not be able to vote, hold office, or be eligible for government assistance (food stamps, medical, etc.) |
