All illegal immigrants should be deported, and we should adapt a shoot-on-sight policy at the borders. That's the solution. BTW, it would cost only $200 billion. If we can find $500 billion for the Iraq war, we can damn well find $200 billion to deport 12 million criminals who are taking our jobs and our money.

Begin citizenship process for the ones with jobs and clean records and not exhausting our governments resources. Start imposing heavy fines for companies employing illegal aliens, and enforcing our nations laws.

Legal - slow down the numbers until we can build enough infrastructure to support them. We need more schools, hospitals, roads, etc. and that all takes time and money. Then only allow those in who will not cost society in any manner. Only those who will work, obey our laws, speak English and not need any social services.

Illegal - remove ALL of the rewards and incentives and they will self-deport at their own expense.
No more $10,000+ a year school educations.
No more drivers licenses.
No more medical (except to transport them to the border).
No more jobs.
No more welfare.
No more housing.
No more food stamps.
No more anchor babies.

No more reasons for them to come here and no more illegals!

There is no "simple" answer.
First, we need to end economic aid to illegals. Stop giving them our public health care and economic resources. Do not issue driver's licenses to illegals
Second, We need to punish industry, business, and individuals who take advantage of the immigrants AND the American people by hiring the illegals. Impose tough fines on these persons or groups responsible.
Third, sure we are a nation of immigrants but we fought for our country, it wasn"t handed to us.Anyone wanting citizenship must join our military after learning our language!
Ethnic diversity does create problems. Look at the current state of Iraq! Sunni and Shite Arabs don't get along so well! Immigrants to our country should be expected to know our language and culture before coming here. If you want to be in America- Act American, If not - Go back to YOUR home now!

Because there are a staggering number of illegal aliens with fake documents out there, we need to move them all out of the country and make sure none of them return for a while. We want that wait period so that any welfare fraud will be automatically terminated, and the documents that were purchased from the Mexican Mafia are no longer good.

Not amnesty, amnesty is an insult to indigenous British or American people. I say bring the troops back from Iraq and use them as border guards, also build camps to house them before we deport them.

The local governments need to stop giving illegals prizes to come over here!! Free health care and welfare coming from the tax dollars I pay. These people donâ€™t put tax dollars in and just take and send money back to Mexico!! We need to deport the ones already here!! More states should impose laws like Oklahoma!!!

Stop letting them using our taxmoney for school, hospitalization, make them get car insurance or impound and sell their chevys. Build an electrafied fence between the two countries. We put a man on the moon and we can do this so do not tell me its not possible, expensive but possible. Fine all employers for hiring illegals. Cut your own grass and landscape your own land. Your question is ambiguous. Why is a solution to immigration needed?

Now, if you're one of those millions of people who can't seem to differentiate between immigration and illegal entry and your question really means: What is the solution to the illegal alien problem? Then, the solution is heavy fines and/or jail time for government agencies, corporations or individuals who hire illegal workers; no renting/selling of housing to illegal aliens; no drivers licenses for anyone here illegally and heavy fines with immediate deportment when anyone is found to be illegally in this country.

Make their government have a plan that will help their people come out of poverty and we the USA will help them with the money but at the end of the year we the USA want to see results. Right now we give billions and billions of dollars to Mexico, a country rich in oil, the riches country in Latin America and they are one of the poorest in the world. Why then we the USA have to be taken their poor when the problem is the corruption of their government and the laziness of their people. Why should we the Americans pay for all of this.?? Why??

If they could make money in their own country they wouldn't come here. They are not happy having to come here. It's not easy to leave behind your family, friends, home, culture, language, food, etc.

Attack the root of the problem which is the severe disparity between the economies of both countries. Renegotiate or do away with NAFTA.

Until then, you can put Mount Everest on the border and they'll keep coming. You all cite the wrong reasons why you think they come here. They don't come here for free health care or food stamps or benefits of any such kind. They come here to WORK.
