Well all I have to say is that I would want to live here too and if the proverbial turds ever hit the fan (a.k.a. ground combat on our own soil) I can guarantee our "so-called illegals" would fight like hell to protect this country. And I would welcome their help.
Anyone with me on this? They hold a passion for this country and they are a part of modern America like it or not.
I think there's more to worry about than keeping this place free of immigrant workers, such as terrorists that want us dead. Let's start there.
But to attempt to answer the question, I think the worst thing to expect would be crowded public transportation for several months and I'm sure some would complain about that too. Whiners... |

Well, as a veteran who has applied to several companies in my town only to be denied a job but later found out from other people who had the same thing happen to them, that the company has a number of illegal employees....a much brighter employment situation for us legal Americans..My son applied to a temp agency here in Martinsville and was told by the person running the agency that the man she was sending my son to work with specifically requested"MEXICANS" because they work so hard and don't complain....When my son got to the job site the man was shocked..You see my son is Irish and Italian but he has his stepfather's last name which is Hispanic(LEGALLY BORN IN THE U>S> AND A VET)
We need to get the illegal situation under control or our country will turn into a third world nation ....Send the illegals back to their country and ban them from ever coming back to the U.S. and make the president and government of Mexico responsible for their own people and mess in their country....God Bless The U.S.A. |

There will never be a mass deportation. Unfortunately they will all probably be citizens in 10 years. Our leaders in Congress are to worried about getting re-elected to approve such a move. Because as we all know the most important thing for a Representatives or Senator is not representing his constituents, but keeping his job. |

Things could get a little crazy if we start deporting large numbers of illegals at one time. The hispanic illegals are convinced this is a race war anyway according to some of the things I read on this site. They are being taught that we stole their land and have been tolerated here for so long that they feel complete entitlement to all the benefits of living in the US. The biggest problem is that they won't expect us to fight back, but what choice will we have? Those of us, and there are many, that are tired of this crap will stand up and defend our country. Some of them can't wait for the chance to do so. So yes, fires, killings, looting, etc. could be expected to happen at least in some places. Open racism could become a fact of life. I hope I'm wrong, but how do you get 15+million people out of this country with none of them trying to start something? That is no reason to let the invaders stay, though. You do realize that many of them are serious about taking over this country, don't you? |

Some violent riots I'm sure. The illegals and supporters have already demonstrated that they will be violent if they don't get their way.
BTW they aren't "SO CALLED ILLEGALS" They ARE illegal !! Whether or not you or anyone else wants to own up to that fact ! They are illegal, criminal, tresspassers..........etc.....etc......e... |

I will have to break down and buy a lawn mower.
It's all positive. Our economy will not miss a beat and prices on food items will drop because farmers will finally be forced to invest in automation.
Other business may have to pay more in wages but that is good news since it will put more money into OUR pockets and less in big business, who will not be able to raise prices because of global competition. It's all good new for the PEOPLE of this country and some bad news for the business that are currently criminally exploiting cheap labor. |

From the economics perspective it won't be a good thing.
Yes, it might raise salaries which is not a great thing for a growing economy. It will take time to fill the jobs left by the cheap labor shortage, which will have a minimum impact in production but not really significant.
Yes, USA citizens would take the jobs or new waves of legal immigrants but they will demand better pay which will increase the cost of certain products and services. The hardest hit would be the the construction sector which could in some states almost double the price of homes.
Indeed illegal immigrant create lower pay on certain jobs but from an economist point of view cheap labor is never bad for an economy. It is a simple rule of economics. Economics 101: cheap labor is good.
But not necessarily for citizen who want better pay for certain jobs. but after all, to have a strong and growing economy the sacrifice of wages is better for the country and isn't that what really matters? What's best for the country? not necessarily for its citizens.
There would be a reduction of crime in those heavy immigrant populated areas.
But the worst would be "no more Wendy's" |

The worst thing that could happen is stagflation with employment rate decrease. I know that may sounds like a paradox, but it is a very possible scenario. |

Rioting in the streets for a while possibly ... and looting .... but Ike managed to deport one hell of a lot of illegals in the fifties, and apart from a few songs being written about it, and a few protest rallies .... America woke up to another day, just the same as always ..... |

For one thing we can get rid of welfare and give all the jobs to those people who are now refusing to work because they get free money for sitting on their rears. |

It would depend on how it was done. |

if they're shipped off all at once, then things would b a little hectic for a while. like more jobs to fill, home foreclosures, american children lining up for even more public assistance, etc.. but i think the tax burden may go down eventually, but the sales taxes & prices on practically everything will go up slightly. also, if there is a mass deportation, i think the undocumented workers and/or relatives who r American citizens will get a little violent, angry whatever. something's gotta give.

If that were to ever happen, they'd have to increase the man power to do so.
...so logically, you'd expect higher taxes. |
