In order to answer this question, you can not be so general in your statements.
"the southern boarder is a war zone americans are being kidnapped and killed ," It seems to me there is more to this than just kidnappings.
"Americans Being Kidnapped, Held and killed in Mexico"
"Born in Tenn. 27 year old American from El Paso Kyle Mostello Belanger- believed missing in Juarez Mexico. Close friends and relatives believe he was a solder for the El Paso Barrio Azteca gang."
"From Brownsville Texas to San Diego California and as far north as Dallas Texas Americans are being kidnapped and killed. All of this is escalating narcotics-related violence across northern Mexico; the State Department has alerted Americans of the dangers of crossing the border. But there are no alerts of Americans being kidnapped right here on U.S. soil and being held as hostages or for ransom and being killed."
"Violent criminal activity, including murder and kidnapping, in Mexico's northern border region has increased."
""The U.S. government would like to think that drug violence is just a problem south of the Rio Grande. It isn't," said Raymundo Ramos, a human rights advocate in Nuevo Laredo."

"Going To Mexico Will Get You Killed/Kidnapped"
Even in an interview of Casey Wians, a CNN Correspondent by Lou Dobbs, himself states
"DOBBS: A stark warning from the U.S. State Department for American planning to travel to Mexico or already traveling there. Americans and local residents have been the victims of kidnappings and homicide carried out by warring drug cartels as we have been reporting here for some time. But the U.S. State Department is not now imposing a travel ban to Mexico."

"the mexican military has been coming into us territory several miles and no one is saying anything !"
Who is going where?
"U.S. military moves into Mexico"
"The US Militarization of Mexico"
"Mexico has a history of resisting US military aid. But from 1982-1990, Mexico received more military aid from the US than in the previous 30 years. Why is the US now involved in helping the Mexican government chase its own citizens around the jungles of Chiapas?
An infamous Chase Bank memo, dated January 13, 1995, warned Mexican officials that "the government will need to eliminate the Zapatistas to demonstrate their effective control of the national territory and security policy." The memo made it clear that the real object of US military and economic aid to Mexico was to maintain political stability (no matter the severity of the methods or the threat to Mexico's sovereignty) so that investor confidence could be guaranteed.
On February 9, 1995 - within weeks of the Chase Bank memo- Mexico's military launched a surprise offensive into the Zapatista region, breaking a year-long truce. The army has occupied the territory since then.
A June 1996 US Government Accounting Office report disclosed that US helicopters were used to transport Mexican troops to the site of a peasant uprising in violation of the transfer agreement. Many campesinos were killed during those operations.
In 1996, the Mexican government acknowledged for the first time that it was allowing US security agencies to fly over Mexican territory. Zapatista commanders say they have seen men wearing US military insignia working with the Mexican military and paramilitary groups."

I know, the article is from 1998 still it shows that America has most likely armed and trained the same people / groups that are currently a large part of today's problems.
"and now our enemy's ( islamic terrorists ) are working with the cartel to bring men and weapons across the boarder (and there is some corruption on our side to but most of the problems is in mexico) a street on the boarder is more dangerous then a street in Baghdad"
"Kidnappings on the Rise Worldwide"
"They mark a turning point in terrorist tactics that U.S. intelligence officials say has produced a startling statistic: a 500 percent increase in foreigners taken hostage around the world as militants adopt the methods of the most violent figures in the Iraq insurgency."
"The Associated Press — show that in 2004, some 342 foreign and U.S. hostages were taken by terrorist and insurgent organizations.
By 2006 that number had grown to 501. By 2007 it had jumped to more than 1,500, and it is on track to rise even higher this year, according to Thomas Brown, director of the office that analyzes information about prisoners of war and those missing in action.
His office does not count in the total the kidnapping of a country's own residents by terrorist or insurgent groups — a much more frequent and long-standing practice."

"Is it Safe to Walk the Streets of Baghdad?"
"In this excerpt of the interview, Newsweek Reporter Babak Dehghanpisheh has a shocking observation about walking the streets of Baghdad."
"Cenk Uygur: Babak, I've got to ask you this, you know, because I can’t get a good sense of it sitting here in Los Angeles. Obviously you’re in Baghdad and you have a thousand times better perspective on it. As a journalist, can you walk outside of the green zone, as an American, and just stroll around the city and come back? Would you be fine? Or what would happen to you if you weren’t fine?
Babak Dehghanpisheh: Well without getting too much into our own security arrangements, I think most Westerners on the ground here, who are civilians, who are not affiliated with the military, let’s say journalists, or aid workers and so on, realize that it would be probably, you know, at the very least, you’re probably going to get kidnapped shortly if you go walking around Baghdad, if not getting caught up in other some kinds of violence, or getting shot at. You know, I don’t know of any Westerners who go strolling around the streets of Baghdad, and unless you do have what you mentioned; a convoy of Humvees or choppers to back you up for protection. Then I think it would be suicidal.
Cenk Uygur: You think it would be suicidal? So, if you’re a Westerner, the idea of going out for a stroll in Baghdad, you’re calling it suicidal. Your chances of getting killed or kidnapped is incredibly high?
Babak Dehghanpisheh: I would say it’s a hundred percent."

I have not read to much about "people are getting thrown in jail for protecting them selves their community and their country". It is not to say that we do not have persons that are willing to be incarcerated for their beliefs I am saying that today it is more common to find people that have only belief in themselves.
And until someone decides to ignore the cost of building, as you put it, "our own wall" takes it upon themselves and those that have rallied in support to buy all supplies, providing the construction labor and the continuing repair or maintenance needs followed by then enforcing that no one go over, under, around or through this wall than I guess you will just have to be content complaining until our government decides to do whatever it is they feel necessary. Tell you what, I won't start in on "there is some corruption on our side" if you won't notice that I am not there with you. |

We wouldn't have a problem with the Mexican drug cartels if the U.S. wasn't their biggest market. They wouldn't have a reason to even step foot on our soil if it wasn't for people like the Grandpa (US Citizen) in Las Vegas whom dealt with them and ended up stealing millions from them to.
We have to fix our problems first before we go blaming everybody else.

Feds Arrest Grandfather of Kidnapped 6-year-old Cole
The FBI and U.S. Marshalls arrested a man in Riverside late Friday night in connection with a Las Vegas child kidnapping case. 6-year-old Cole Puffinburger 51-year-old Clemens Clemons Fred Tinnemeyer, 51, the grandfather of a kidnapped 6-year-old Nevada boy, was arrested by the FBI's fugitive task force in Riverside, said Laura Eimiller, a spokeswoman for the FBI in Los Angeles.
The boy, Cole Puffinburger, was abducted from a Las Vegas home Wednesday morning by three men posing as police officers. Police said they believe the men were Mexican drug dealers and that the kidnapping at gunpoint was a "message" to Tinnemeyer.According to police Tinnemeyer allegedly stole millions of dollars from a powerful Mexican drug cartel out of Tijuana, Baja Mexico and believe as a result a contract hit was ordered. |

Bush was the one who pushed the Mexican government to fight the drug cartels. The Mexican government knew it was not strong enough, and kept resisting Bush. But Bush promised them the money and support needed, so they stepped up. Then Bush reneged on the deal, and Mexico fell into that mess.
The drug cartels were happy with what they had. I'm not saying they were right, far from it. But there are times when one has to accept wrong, to prevent a bigger wrong. The drug cartel situation was one of those times. Now Mexico is falling apart.
You want it fixed? Then we are going to have to make sacrifices, and the wall is not one of those sacrifices. It's too easy to get around. It turns out that the drug cartels can afford boats; and so a wall will just be transferring the problem from border states with experience in this matter, to states that have a shoreline and no experience dealing with this. In point of fact, we would be spending over $70 billion to transfer a problem to those who have no idea how to handle it at all.
If you want the problem fixed, then we have to back the Mexican government. We have to send them money, and possibly even support troops. Otherwise, the Mexican government will fall and the illegal immigrant problem will get significantly worse, and we lose another source of our oil (making us even more dependent on terrorist-supporting nations like Saudi Arabia).
I understand your want for a moral decision. But in this matter, morality must take a backseat to practical reality. And practical reality holds that we must help the Mexican government. |
