Because these people on here have no idea what they are talking about. they dont see or care that the mexicans are NOT taking jobs but doing jobs lazy proudful Americans dont want. Illegals are here because Immigration laws are ridiculous. People who are poor and desprete to feed their kids cant afford the high cost, or the time it takes to come here to legal way, is this their fault? NOOO Its the systems fault. If your kid was starving you had no money, would you not steal to feed them? Same thing for the illegals people. Incorrectly Political

Why does everyone who disagrees with you have to have something wrong with them? Everyone is going to see this issue differently. Many people have gotten to the point where they just don't want their tax dollars going to support people who are here illegaly. Any way you do the math, we are losing billions of dollars a year in federal funds alone for medical care, schooling, and welfare for illegal immigrants, and, contrary to what many are saying, illegals don't pay their full share back into the system. I fall into this croud. I am a taxpayer, and I don't want my money going to support people who break the law by coming into this country illegaly. We have lazy sh*ts who were BORN here we can give that money to.

Well, Ya'll, what is wrong is there are people like you with closed minds unwilling to learn something new. I don't remember seeing too many AMERICANS protesting in the streets recently, but I did see lots of Mexican flags being waved by people demanding the United States Government change the law so they don't have to assimilate into our country like all the immigrants before them. They want to be Mexicans inside the USA, instead of citizens of the USA. I don't think we're the ones wrong, my opinion.

I don't care where the 'illegal alien' is from. They do bother me, my children and my mother. It's is a pity that if I was one of those illegals I could get medical care for my son, he's 11. He has had a brain tumor but we don't receive ANY medical help. When the Dr. says he needs neuro and neuro-surgeon and a pediatric neurological ophthalmologist and they say oh no go find help somewhere else but in the waiting room there are alot of people who don't speak English, the signs are in Spanish on how to apply and they are offered a translator. It is a sad sad day.

No problem with the Mexicans but the reason people are out of work is because the Mexicans will do the jobs for minimum wage where as the construction was paying up to 22.00 per hour for these jobs. That is why people are upset.

Isn't it more a question of obeying the law of the land? You and I have to obey it or pay the consequences. If we rob a bank or shoot someone or break other such laws, we go to jail. That's the law. These people sneak into our country and say to h*ll with the American law, I'll do what I want to. What makes them better than us?

Problem #1: Population

The first problem I see with the current state of the immigration laws is the significant rise in population that has, and will, continue to occur over the next fifty years. According to the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), an estimated 1.1 million immigrants, both legal and illegal, enter the United States every year. 700,000 of these are legal immigrants; 120,000 are refugees, and between 250,000 to 300,000 are undocumented or illegal â€œaliensâ€ ( Baldwin, 1995). The United States population at the moment is roughly 288 million people. If this trend of aliens is not decreased, the population will reach 400 million by 2050. How many people can America hold?

Problem #2: Benefits Illegal Aliens Recieve

Currently, under federal law, undocumented foreign citizens are eligible for emergency healthcare, free schooling from kindergarten through high school, and W.I.C. or Woman, Infants, and Children nutritional program ( Baldwin, 1995). This is important to note because there are currently between eight and ten million aliens currently living illegally in the United States. An estimated 2.5 million of these illegal aliens currently reside in the state of California alone, due to the agricultural jobs that are readily available for cheap labor (Kadetsky, 102). It should not be surprising then that the residents of California were outraged over the amount of money that they were being forced to spend, and the amount of resources that were being used to support aliens that are not â€œallowedâ€ to be in the United States in the first place.

Problem #3: Homeland Security

In the Fiscal year of 2002, which runs October 1 through September 30, the United States Coast Guard, which is the countryâ€™s primary maritime, or sea going, law enforcement agency, intercepted 4104 immigrants from various South American countries (USCG, Para 2). Since then, the numbers of immigrants intercepted by the Coast Guard, has continued to climb at an alarming rate; jumping to almost 11,000 in 2004, 9,500 in 2005, and currently with less than two months into the 2006 physical year, there have already been 1,000 migrants accounted for and processed through the Coast Guard (USCG, Para 1). Illegal immigration can potentially cost American tax payers billions of dollars a year. The United States Coast Guard, whose primary obligation is to prevent the loss of life at sea, can not stop this problem by its self, it is mearly the first line of defense. It is up to the rest of America to join the fight and help put an end to this awful practice.

I have no problem with mexicans coming to work. I do have a problem with them coming over here and not learning the language. I have a problem with me having to speak spanish in order to get a job. I have a problem driving down the street and not being able to read the street signs because they are in another language. I have a problem with them not learning our culture and language and adapting.

Please come, work, do the jobs that others are not willing or wanting to do but dammit, come in legal, pay taxes, speak english and stop expecting others to conform to you. Its the United States of America not the United States of Mexico.

If I were going on vacation in another country I would hope the natives to understand if I struggle with the language or step on a few toes in the culture department. But if I were going to MOVE to another country you bet your ***!!! that I would learn the language and at least be familiar with the culture.

Years ago, they had a problem just like they have today.
There were like 2-3 million immigrants from mexico that were in the US. well they gave them Amnesty and allowed ALL of those illegal aliens (thats what your called if you dont have US citizenship) to become citizens of the US.

well now they yet again have that problem, but thing is now, there are 11 million. if they give amnesty to those people, whats to say down the line there are 21 million immigrants maybe even 40 million immigrant trying to get into the US illegally? what are we going to do then?
so their trying to solve this NOW by passing that law or bill or whatever.

I mean, if immigrants would come over here LEGALLY then none of this would be a problem.
