What is your current state of mind about illegal immigration in your country?

I understand why people would want to come here. I am angry and frustrated at Americans who either look the other way or actually condone illegal immigration. No one should accept others entering our country without permission. Legal immigration should be limited so that the ethnic make-up of the nation remains as it is as well. Why would so many willingly surrender their nation?

If we cannot or will not control our borders and ourselves have the one and only last word on what our own immigration policy will be without having the rest of the world butt in, then we deserve what we will get, which will be the gradual loss of our sovereignty followed by our decline as a nation.

I have been absolutely astonished over the past several years to see how great a disconnect has existed between what the citizens of the United States want in this area and what our government is willing to provide.

For the most part, the government has simply disregarded and ignored, without explanation or apology, the people's wishes. To me, that state of affairs gives rise to an inherently unstable and potentially volatile situation that cannot and will not be allowed to persist indefinitely.

I am frustrated by the lack of action on the part of the American government. We go halfway around the world to fight a "threat," but leave our borders open for people who aren't always law-abiding. I understand why so many want to come to this country, but they should come legally, and learn our language. If I were to immigrate to Germany, I would go through the legal tape, and learn the language. They wouldn't make their markets bilingual so that my life would be easier, as we have done for the Mexicans. Not all Mexicans are criminals, but not all illegal Mexican immigrants are law-abiding individuals. It's much harder to find a rapist, murder, or thief that "doesn't exist" i.e. not in any of our systems than it is to find someone who was either born in this country or came here by legal means.

EDIT: I agree with free_ang...Illegal immigrants have no rights in this country because they never made it their own. The Constitution, Bill of Rights, and laws that make this country great are not theirs. If they want rights and laws, go back to Mexico, or become an American citizen. They cannot claim that they want the American Dream when they don't want to be Americans. Wake up, and use logic, people.

America needs to stop catering to them and send them back. They are here illegally thus making them criminals and it's ridiculous to hear them talk about "their rights," hold rallies, bash our government, etc. They'd be the first ones to raise hell if an American illegally went to their country and did these things.

Not related to this section, but we can add the fact that fidel has done the USA all the harm it could. Had not been because Gorbachev unwillingly pulverized comunism in Russia, fidel would be today knocking at the doors of the White House and telling bush to beat it, because it was taking charge.

Personally I'm upset. My feelings are, although I don't condone the vigilante attacks that are going on, I fear that there will be a lot more of it if the government continues to say that their hands are tied.

jeez physician, You might as well say that it's the parents fault for not protecting their children from pedophiles if you're going to say that this is Americans fault. Let's not hold them responsible for their behavior, and actions either.

Feelings ? Angered at our failing leaders ! That the would betrayal U.S for a vote and to help profit the large corporations of the world on legal slave labor . To expected U.S. to sit quietly while they slice this country up and sell it over seas .To think that we are to be puppets of there new world order they will force upon U.S.! Sadly blind folding ever thing with 911 sickens me the most . We have to give licences . to people that are criminals the moment the set foot here by breaking our laws and robbing this nation . I welcome all immigrants, illegal or not. North America is a continent of immigrants. Anyone who disputes that is only a few generations off a boat that originated SOMEWHERE ELSE! Canada is underpopulated and in need of unskilled/service workers. I see shiftless/homeless non immigrants asking for my money to live off of everyday. The immigrants that I've met aren't too proud to start off flipping burgers and hope to go on to better things. They have no sense of entitlement, but a sense of hard work. I admire that. It tends to be uneducated types who are threatened by immigrants because it is those unskilled low paying positions that a person from another country will take. The world is for everyone, and I hope I would be welcome as a newcomer elsewhere if I ever chose to start new.
