I'm with Lakers Fan. It's a very very bad idea for many reasons.

1. It's costing us MILLIONS more then what they predicted.

4. It's giving the human smugglers more business. Many immigrants would take on the trek on their own, but now with the fence, they resort to smugglers, even by sea.

5. And worst of all, it's cutting through precious lands and threatening endangered species.

Waste of money. By the time they finish it Mexico and most of Latin America and Caribbean will be developed and there will be little need for people to want to cross illegally to the U.S anyway. And then we'll have another famous "Mr President tear down this wall" speech in 25 years.

If Congress were to pass a law that said, quite simply,
that the CEO of any business
that was caught employing illegal immigrants
went to jail for a year -
no exceptions -
then within a month there would be fifteen million (more or less) people
lined up at the Mexican border
trying to get out of the United States.

The US unemployment rate would drop close to zero,
and wages would begin to rise.

The American middle class would begin to return to viability,
as would the union movement in this nation

Start HARSHLY penalizing "Illegal Employers"
and non-citizens without a Social Security number
will leave the country on their own.

Easy, simple, cheap, painless.
No Reform
No Amnesty
No Racial Profiling
No Fence Or Walls Required
No mass deportations necessary.
No need for Homeland Security to get involved.

When jobs are not available,
most undocumented workers will simply leave the country
