What is your take on immigration in the us?

I am in favor of legal immigration.
As for ILLEGAL immigration we need to do the following;
1) Secure our borders
2) Apply fines against anyone hiring an ILLEGAL.
3) As ILLEGALS are caught detain and deport as quickly as possible.
4) Remember any assets gained while committing a crime can and will be seized.

All of this will not only limit the number of ILLEGALS it will also have an impact on the drug and other ILLEGAL trafficking across our borders.

It's wrong, the only people who benefit is business realms who want to take advantage of slave wage labor; they'll argue every reason why they love it. In reality slave wages do not benefit anybody, not the economy or this country. Go back to paying normal wages to American workers like we used to ya greedy morons.

Look at any countries Immigration laws and see how they enforce them, then come back to me.

Personally I think it is a joke now. We have gotten so laxed. There used to be a time where it was mandatory to speak English to live in this country now its just an option.

If it's illegal, my dad says we should just shoot the Mexicans that cross our border. He's not racist, but if it's illegal, it shouldn't be done.

they should come her LEGALLY and pay taxes just like everyone else. and it should be in control and they should be good citizens and not cause problems and crime...we already have enough of that!

and also they should work and not get any "free" benefits and they should also learn to speak english if they want to live here...because many americans are learning spanish so we can communicate with them...and when they come here everyting is translated and when we go there everything is in spanish and nothing is in english for us!

the whole concept doesn't bug me though, i just think that they should do all that if they want to live here

People who come to this country should come here legally. If they are illegal, they need to be deported. That is the law of the land and officials have been nilly willy about enforcing the law so long, that we have a huge problem on our hands. If we went to any other country in the world this would not be premitted. We would be imprisoned or deported!

legal immigration is ok..assuming the immigrants leave this country the way it is and not try to change it to their customs and beliefs...illigal immigration means one thing...cheap labor and/or a free ride at the welfare and medical offices...not to mentiona rise in crime and although some want a ligitimate lifestyle that doesnt make them legal..if one wants to enter this country to live then they should do it properly...

We need razor wire and sniper towers at the border. for the cost of illegal babies and health care, we can build a high speed train to deport every one of them.

As someone said earlier its only benefit is for corporate America looking to take advantage of people willing to work for less.

Nobody should have to compete with someone here illegally for a job, EVER, yet it happens all the time. That is the disgrace of this whole thing!

That's easy! I, as with 80% of the rest of the country think that legal immigrants are great for this country, and illegal immigrants are VERY bad for this country.

I'm against giving them free healthcare.

I think if they want benefits of living here, they should have to serve in our military. There they will learn to communicate and contribute to our society.

My grandfather immigrated from Italy> they changed his name when he entered and he actually came here legally.
If you do it the legal proper way and pay for your citizenship like everyone else. I don't have a problem with it.
We have friends from South Africa that paid a pretty penny for their greencards. Everyone else should have to do the same.

Mexico needs to step up and take responsibility for its own people.
1. Allow birth control (Catholic church condemns it.)
2. Provide free public education no matter what the person's background.
3. Rid government and business of corruption. (Never gonna happen, I know.)

The U.S. needs to do the following:
1. Not allow illegals to purchase cell phones, cars, homes.
2. Hold employers responsible for verifying employees' paperwork.
3. Shut down any business that hires illegals.
4. Immediately jail, then deport to deep Mexico any illegal convicted of a crime.

Those who come here illegally are so incredibly desperate, they're willing to risk their lives in order to make a living.

in the late 1800's and early 1900's lots of our families came from Europe...came from other places before then. Most were proud to be here and became naturalized citizens. There were some though that were unhappy, missed their parents, didn't bring their children the first time so they missed them then didn't hve the money to return to the US, and some weren't skilled enough or thought they wouldn't have to work hard to get what they wanted, and some got stuck in the Great Depression, some had to give up their children which children then spent time or a lot of time in the orphanages, some people didn't understand the laws so right away they got into jail, some married outside their religion or nationality and family disowned them and they ended up struggling, some of the women got raped and that ended the marriages either by divorce or suicide, lots of children took ill and died, there were diseases or falls that if they had lived now those things could have been cured but they died instead, they dired in fires as well, and, some ships that were bringing people here never made it, and some people died on the ship only to be buried in New York. Some people received flyers right at their Ellis Island or Castle Garden entrance to the US and those flyers talked about free land out west so they ventured out west, some made it and some died along the way were immediately buried and the family kept moving westward. Once here they started farms (the reason why they needed large families, to work the farms) and others got jobs in industries.

People really made an effort in those days, left their family, and they were determined to fit in, and they did, they became citizens of America. Then they sent old clothing (there were many many clothing drives) and money, most of which didn't arrive in the old country. They came to the US with no money and once here and to become a citizen they rejected their birth country. They wanted to be here, raise their family here, stay here, assimilate and make America proud of them.

Today it's totally different. Although people from lots of countries come here, some get the education here, some come well educated to work, some come in illegally any way they can get here, and keep coming because they are poor and their country is corrupt and doesn't invest in them, and, because they are not citizens nor want to become naturalized and become a citizen, nor do they wish to reject their home country, in fact they want to take over our country or parts of it. They come to America to send money home, to bankrupt the USA. They even use a lot of credit to send that money home, then never pay the credit card and they just return home. The poor, disadvantaged, and even those who can pay come to America to make money and send it home, and they don't wish to change their homeland to make it a better place to live.. They don't wish to assimilate in Ameirca, and they demand that America change to their way of thinking, to their religion, and they march and carry their homeland's flag. They think they can answer to two leaders (the leader of their country and ours simultaneously). Now the US dollar is losing it's value. And, in my opinion, they are bringing bad people into the US. When I see some assimilation, any, I'll let you know.

This country was founded by immigrants... and every country has immigration problems. So by you saying it's bad and they should be shot and what not. Think about what you are saying and do your research before posting your opinion on here you bunch of ignorants

Legal immigration I do not have a problem with, and I support it completely.

As for illegal immigration, I do not approve of it, but I do not think that all illegal aliens are evil, dangerous, and despicalble liek most people seem to. I think that it should be easier to immigrate legally, so that way, few people would find it necessary to immigrate illegally. I also support amnesty for illegal immigrants, but I think that illegal immigrants should be forced to pay higher taxes to make up for not payign taxes before they were granted amnesty, and they should be fined and given a short jail sentence for immigrating illegally. It is difficult to immigrate legally under the current system, which is why so many people immigrate illegally. That does not justify illegal immigration, but it means that not all illegal immigrants are evil and despicable.

I think anyone (other than criminals) should be able to enter the US and be legal immigrants. However, to do that, they must fluently speak english, and be able to work, and not be allowed to take advantage of government programs like welfare or anything. They also would be limited in terms of the number of non-working (children or elderly) members of the household they could bring over with them.

Well I think that people come to the Us for a better life for their families. As they always say America si th land of oppurtunities so thats th reason why they come here, so that they can support their families and make something of themseles. I rhink thats a great idea but I also think they should follow the law while doing it :)

If your talking about Mexico and the many illegals that enter daily I think the solution is simple, declare war on Mexico kick their ***, make it the 51st state so they pay the same tax's that we have to pay since they use our schools,hospitals and welfare system right now anyway.
