I do agree. We all got along before the mid east started to spread out & globalize. Now, if what they left was so bad, why do they want their new country to be just like it?
People came to the US from all over Europe, & for the most part, got along well. I see 3 or 4 or more churches in all denominations, in many towns. No problem there. Now, the southern hemisphere spreads & the whole now has to be their way. Go figure. It is happening in the US too.

Agreed. When people come to OUR countries they need to accept OUR customs. They do not have to celebrate but how dare they protest or work to remove our customs from OUR damn societies.

its a silly notion really we love Christmas and i think what they really want is a thing where everyone buys something and is back in work in an hour. have it more like valentines day really seems to be what big business wants and has wanted since the industrial revolution

It is an absolute disgrace, if someone wants to come here, good luck to them. However we are a christian society and as such our holidays work around the festivals of the christian faith.(And please don't even bother to argue the social faith, I'm right). If you move into our society then you should adhere to our culture, this imposition will just encourage more people to vote BNP.

I am all for celebrating things with a few foreign traits. We could celebrate national French day where we all go on strike and stink the tube out with Galoise and garlic. Or how about Rorke's Drift Day, where we could all dress up as Zulus and go and persecute a few Welsh people. Australia Day...boozing, acting disgustingly uncouth and standing on our heads. But my all time favourite has got to be Mecca Day, which is of course going round all the pubs in Bradford and Southall rounding up those who originate in Arab countries and flogging them in the town square for sins against Allah. (For those of you who are twitching over the 'report abuse' button, this is something the free thinking and free writing folk of the UK call 'tongue in cheek' and not a serious suggestion........well not very serious!)

What you worried about... It won't happen..,.The other races like and celebrate Christmas too perhaps not religiously but as a fun, party time. Nobody wants to stop Christmas at all...Any aggro is only perceived not actual.

this kind of heresy has been going on for years and breeds racism. A place I used to work at banned staff from eating pork products in the building and displaying anything pig-related for fear of offending muslims. The muslim staff werent actually bothered by us eating pork or anything like that but they got a lot of stick for the company doing this

You haven't read that the government is trying to take away Christmas - because that isn't what the news story says.

The Institute of Public Policy Research has suggested that other religions' festivals be given public recognition too.

"If we are going to continue to mark Christmas - and it would be very hard to expunge it from our national life even if we wanted to - then public organisations should mark other major religious festivals too.

"Even-handedness dictates that we provide public recognition to minority cultures and traditions."

1. No one's trying to downgrade Christmas - the suggestion is that other religions' festivals be given public recognition.

2. It's a think tank. it's job is to come up with crazy "what if" proposals. Most are garbage, the occasional one is genius.

3. It's a public body, not necessarily a government (as in the party in government) supporting agency.
