What will happen to my bf? help?

my boyfriend and i have been together for about a year now and he's the greatest guy i've ever been with. BUT....

last june of 2008 he was released from a 15 year sentence in jail... and he's 36 years old now. He was born in mexico but has lived here his entire 36 years of his life (he was brought here when he was only a few months old).

When he was a kid, he remembers having a green card because him and his family were able to go to mexico and come back with no problems. But now.. his card is lost and we cant apply for a new one because he has aggrevated felonies..and they might deport him

he has so many medical conditions and can't have any type of county medical service because he has no actual documents. he wants to start a new life and go to college but cant get financial aid because again, has no papers.

i am a u.s. citizen but i heard that even if we marry, it wont help him out because his criminal background will still pop up and could get him deported..

SO WHAT CAN HE DO? CAN HE DO ANYTHING?? TO MAKE HIS SITUATION BETTER? ADVICE? PLZ...

I would call an immigration attorney (google: immigration attorney and your city/state) and get a free consultation in regards to whether he could still be deported even if you two get married. Also ask what your other options could be. You could also go to: http://www.avvo.com/free-legal-advice, and ask your question there.

36 in want to go to college lol yeah ok you should fine somebody that has more to give you then a felon with no green card .thank god he's getting deported . move on

ed
If he has been convicted of an aggravated felony, its an automatic deportation. The law requires automatic deportation for aggravated felonies, there's nothing a lawyer or the immigration judge could do to stop it. I know he's a loved one of yours, but he needs to be deported.

Honestly, no. He's a convicted felon with no documents to show that he is legally entitled to stay in the United States. Even if he manages to somehow become a legal resident in the US, he will still have to contend with a felony criminal history and the stigma of being incarcerated for 15 years.

His best shot at starting over is in another country. It would probably be much better for him and for you if he were to return to his home country.

His criminal record probably will not follow him, he will have access to much more affordable medical care and he will not have problems finding a job.

I know that women like to find men that need fixing up, but sometimes there is just too much work to be done and it's best to just throw it in the rubbish.

I'm sorry but it is impossible for your boyfriend to become a legal resident. If someone is imprisoned for 15 years, there must be a reason for that. You don't get imprisonment for something petty or a misdemeanor so he can't get away with it. Are you sure you want to live with someone who committed such multiple felonies? All he can do is to return to his country of citizenship and I don't think he will ever be granted any visa to any other country. Criminals are unwanted everywhere. Just think about it, he did something very serious against the citizens of a foreign country where he was an uninvited guest...isn't that a reason for deportation?

If he really wants to start a new life, why don't the two of you go to Mexico. He won't have as many problems finding a job as he will in the US after a felony conviction. He will have access to cheaper medical care. And he can start a new life without the stigma of being a felon. People will just think he was living and working in the US for 15 years, not behind bars.

A friend and her Mexican bf moved from California to Mexico City and they love it there and have both been able to get good jobs, a nice house, and the cost of living is so much cheaper

Sounds like a great guy. 36 year old convicted felon, out after 15 year jail sentence with no higher education. That is just the kind of illegal I want polluting my nation. Both of you should get married for the poor kid's sake and move to Mexico where you can live together and be happy. The cost of living is much lower down there so you should be able to live on the type of limited income he is going to be able to generate. I assume you are not supporting your child without taxpayer handouts. How many in your household are on medicaid, and food stamps? How much did it cost this nation to incarcerate your boyfriend for the past 15 years? How much did it cost to undo the damage caused by his crime? Who is paying for his health care now? Illegals are a burden to the U.S. taxpayer and are crushing the economic prosperity of this nation. Visit www.numbersusa.com to make a difference.

Micky....the resurrection
Sounds like you picked a real winner! He'll be deported, nothing you can do except try to find a man who isn't a criminal next time.

I am surprised he wasn't deported directly after his 15 year sentence with a lifetime ban on returning.
He must have committed a pretty serious crime to receive 15 years in prison. I'm sorry hun,but if this is the best guy you've ever been with, you've had more losers than I have.
It is highly unlikely he will ever be able to get legal status here. He is a convicted felon which makes him ineligible for citizenship.
You are correct, marrying him will not help him.

Only an immigration lawyer will let you know the probability of winning your case. Get a very competent lawyer!
Example: one of my cousins came here on student visa, but the visa expired b/c he was not attending classes. He overstayed the visa(for about 3 yrs) and then was arrested on drugs charge. He just got married to his girlfriend w/ whom he has a newborn and as of now he got a work permit and is working and all.

Everything is possible w/ a good lawyer..
Good luck!
