What would be different in the U.S. without Illegal immigrants being here?

What wouldn't be different!? It would affect every aspect of my life. I'd be down a couple relatives...but I could live with it, in exchange my children would learn more...since the teachers wouldn't have to dedicate extra time to helping 'english learners'. The jails would be less overcrowded. I might not need to be taxed extra (in CA) so that welfare, medi-cal, section 8, etc. can keep getting abused. I am sure we could find SoMeOnE to manage the fields, housekeeping, and whatever other jobs "no American wants"- just FYI the government does have programs to bring in 'legal immigrants'- I am sure we would continue to use those programs for field jobs and 'other jobs lazy Americans' won't do.' To all those saying illegals do jobs no one else will---get over yourselves--- in this economy many a hard working American would take that job---even at less than minimum wage!

You can see the difference by comparing a mid-west northern region of the US to a southwest region:

In an area with a lot of both legal and illegal immigrants:
-Population is growing
-Houses and rents are more
-Schools are crowded, and failing national standards
-Roads are crowded, car insurance is more
-Water supply is maxed out
-Hospitals are closing because they can't make money
-House cleaners, nannys and landscape workers are inexpensive.
-Wages for low skilled work are depressed
-All the service industry ( McDonald's, etc.) is staffed by immigrants

In areas without immigration:

Mostly the exact opposite of above. Teenagers have all the low skilled jobs. Population pressure on housing hasn't inflated the price. There are some parts of the mid west where a person with a low wage job can still buy a house. People mow their own grass, clean their own house and watch their own children. Fruits and Vegetables are slightly more expensive.

California wouldn't be close to bankruptcy. Thousands of Americans wouldn't have been murdered and raped by people who should have never been in our country to begin with.

We had amnesty in '87 -- this has been going on for a long time. I would love to put our leaders for the last 50 years on trial for all of those deaths for not enforcing the laws of our country. I'd plaster the walls of their cells with the photos of those people.

There would be less street vendors, street gangs, flop houses, drug dealers, drunk and disorderly vagrants, uninsured motorists, mass transit riders, crowded emergency rooms, over crowed jails, packed holding cells and of course graffiti.

Well we wouldn't have spanish on the underside of every official document, When we call for customer service we would hear do want to speak in English or Spanish. The citizen and our government would save Billions of dollars a year on entitlement and other programs that Illegals use and take advantage of like, Prison, Education, Medical, Section 8, Welfare. Our crime rates would go down. Our education would get better and more affordable. No more depression of Americans wages. Inexperienced Americans can finally get a unskilled job and possibly start towards a new career.

Now for the bad, Companies would have to pay a fair wage. Imagine that!!!! And yes Americans would work those jobs, Manufacturing, warehouse, Construction, and on farms. We did it before Illegals got here didn't we? The price of a tomato may go up about 2 to 3 cents WOW. Americans now loose over $3500.00 a year to Illegals. Im sorry I guess there really isn't anything bad. WOW!!!!

To answer your question I would say the only difference would be Good things would happen without Illegals.

Go back 10 years here and it was a lot different. Property values have plunged in the neighborhoods they have taken over. Parks have been trashed. Roads to fishing areas closed due to their dumping their trash, and yes, it is the illegals and legal hispanics doing it. The Corp of Engineers placed cameras along some of those roads and turned the vehicle tags over to the Sheriff Office.
A person could go the health department and not have to wait for hours for a simple skin test or immunization shot for their children. Now, the waiting room is crowded. The local hospital wasn't in debt due to providing them free care and labor and delivery services.
The 16 year old in our neighborhood would not have been gang-raped by them when she was 11. My cousin's husband would not have been killed by an illegal driving drunk, who somehow managed to post bail and vanish.
There would be higher pay in blue-collar jobs. More educational resources for our children. Schools budgets would not be strained having to provide remedial and ESL classes for them.
It would be a far better nation without the illegal aliens.

Less crime, for starters. Less gang violence- the sad thing about our productive society is living right next door to such a dysfunctional one. To answer your question, things like food and yard care would be slightly more expensive but weigh that against the social costs of having a slew of mestizos with their breeding capabilities and tendency toward territorial violence against what we once had without any illegal immigration. Common sense is not something to be ignored for short term gains.

Crime would dramatically decrease, prices would go down, wages would go up, jobs would be available, our school systems would improve, hospitals wouldn't have to close down etc.

The cost of living would be lower for sure! We wouldn't have to worry about introducing a bill in Congress to make English the national language! We would have LESS crime, more space in our prisons and without a doubt...our roads would be safer (many illegal aliens drive just like they did in Mexico or whichever country they came from).
We'd have more space in the grocery stores for American products. More money would STAY in this country.

Oh yeah; we could actually go to restaurants and not have to worry about waistaff not understanding English!!!

There would be less crime because gangs and organized crime/terrorism as we know it is linked to immigration in most cases. Take a look at immigrant groups starting in the 19th Century. You will always find poverty and crime in these groups in a high percentage as compared to the middle-income native born US Citizens. Illegal immigration only exacerbated the immigration problem in the past 40 years.

And the argument that the US economy will collapse without illegal immigrants, that provide cheap immigrant labor, is not valid and there is no evident for this. If there is no cheap labor then the economy will be forced to restructure itself to become sustainable. In other words, we will use American labor to pick produce, provide janitorial services, be used in construction, in manufacturing/food processing, etc. So we pay more for products and services but will use only what we need and not spend foolishly like we did in the past. And our society will restructure as well. We will have fewer children or none, buy economy cars, spend less on luxuries and more on necessities, eliminate cell or telephone services, eliminate pay TV or internet services, and spend less going out to bars and restaurants. There is more but I am only giving you what is possible. The United States government will not let itself collapse because it does not have cheap immigrant labor. It will work out an economic restructuring plan with the private sector out of necessity. It does have a US born labor force to sustain the economy. Yes, prices will go up because US laborers cannot work for $1.00/hour. Equilibrium will be reached between wages and prices. We just have to spend our earned money more wisely on products and services and make this a cultural habit.

But it can be done. It is just that big business is too cheap to pay honest wages to US Citizens in domesticated low-skilled jobs. If you think $10/hour ($20,800/year before taxes) is a lot of money in a low cost area, think again.

Just for comparison, my father bought a 19-inch color TV (RCA brand, one speaker, and no remote) in 1964 that cost $400. It took him about two years to save up for that. He did not make a lot of money but through saving and conservative spending in other areas, he was able to save up $400. And $400 was a lot of money for TV in those days because it was made 100% by US labor. Now I can easily purchase a 27-inch TV (any brand, stereo, remote, and MTS) for $200. The reason why I get more for my dollar is because it was made overseas by foreign labor, for way less than $10/hour. The point I am making is we can use our own American labor like we did in 1964. It just means that we have to spend more wisely on things we really need and a lot less on luxuries.

Again we can live without illegal immigrants if necessary.

MS-13 which is a hispanic based street gang wouldn't be here. They are the fastest growing gang in the U.S. and have started migrating into Canada. Their goal is to take over as crime boss of the major cities in north America. Ecuador, which is their country of origin has classified them as terrorist, and warns other countries to not allow them a foot hold. At least 50% of the gang is made up of illegal hispanics of various latin American countries, and they are a huge problem that is growing daily.

OMG. All these people in here talk about utopia. Please, if there were no illegals, then the crime would be committed by others. And for your info, not all illegals are Mexicans or hispanics. I know plenty of european and Canadians illegals(too lazy to fill up an application). I do agree that many people ,who happen to be illegal, can be blamed for the gang violence and school overcrowding. I wish there could be a solution for that, so instead of dreaming look for a solution.

If its happen you will have much more open jobs. Jobs that Americans could do, for $3 an hours - like they paid to Mexicans. None of the americans will take those shitty jobs for $3 an hour and the US could collapse because there will be no one that is doing the dirty jobs for such a low pay... Maybe Americans would do this job for $50 an hour, but if the employer pay $50 and hour he will go bankrupt so the mexicans that work for $3 an hour are keeping the US alive.

And some illegals even make $30 an hour and even more, but thats something else.

Well, I can't imagine who would construct our roads, buildings and parks. Or do our dry-cleaning, clean our houses, drive our trucks, and keep our streets and public areas clean. Who will harvest fruit and vegetables? Who will drive taxis? Who would repair homes, install flooring and cabinetry and lay cement?

Financially speaking, we would lose significant contributions to social security and unemployment. Contrary to popular belief, most illegal immigrants pay those taxes. In Chicago alone, we would lose 31,000 jobs that have been created by illegal immigration. We would also lose $5.34 billion dollars annually from the GDP in that one city. Everyone would have to pay more for everything from a fast food burger to a luxury home in a gated community.

If every illegal immigrant in the U.S. disappeared tomorrow, you would wake up in a different world. And you wouldn't like it much.

I see most of you answer "less crime".... Well I hope you guys know that 99.9% of criminal immigrants legal or illegal learn their criminal ways in American mostly from Americans. The overwhelming majority of them were not and did not intend to be criminals until they were introduced to it in America. America has always been a land of crime and lawlessness since the wild west and mob era. Blame your crime rate on yourselves. A nation that glorifies crime.
Mexican illegal immigration is tolerated because of the "labor for peanuts" issue. If it weren't for illegal Mexican immigrants most farmers would be out of business and bankrupt. Blame that on your government and it's cronies who fight to keep holes in the border fence.
At the end of the day every single person in America is an immigrant or a descendant of an immigrant. That country belonged to a peaceful people who were subsequently annihilated by barbaric criminals. So this thanksgiving be thankful that you even have a country with laws that stand to promote freedom and equality for all and stop blaming others for your problems. Take your heads out of the sand and realize that you are a created nation of foreign people that is only 200 and something years old.
This is a fairy tale question.... It is impossible for America or any other nation for that matter to be completely without illegal immigrants.
