ok so i was wondering if like if you were out fishing and a group of people trying to make it to the U.S. came into view on a raft ... i mean i couldn't just leave someone out there to die so what would happen if you picked them up and got caught or can you just call the coast guard and say you rescued them

Call the coast guard and someone will meet up with you to take them into custody. If you don't call you can be charged with human smuggling. |

I would leave them out there if I did not have a weapon on me, you do not know what type of criminal element is coming towards you. besides it was their choice to take the chance to cross so if they die it is at their own hands, If landed I would make sure authorities were there to pick them up and toss them back out!! |
