Whats the procedure????????????????

At the end of March i am traveling to the USA to marry my American fiance. Once we are married we are intending for her to come and live in the UK. We have been spending the last few months getting together all the papers and documents we need to have to apply for her Spousal Visa. I will be taking all the stuff i need to take with me when i fly out. MY BIGGEST fear is that when i get to immigration at the airport and say 'im here to get married' i am going to get a moody border officer who is going to either refuse me entry or at the very least keep me there for ages asking all kinds of questions. My fiance lives in Ohio, there are no residency laws insisting that i have to live in state for any amount of time before we wed......the people at the probate court have said all i need to bring is a passport and my birth certificate. I'm hoping that a caseful of evidence that it is my fiance who is relocating to the UK afterwards and proof from my employer that i'm returning to the UK after 2.5wks PLUS a return flight ticket will convince immigration that we are doing theings legally.......im just concerened that they will turn me round at the border.........i want to be 100% truthful with them........any opinions???

Go to Mexico first, then just walk across the border. |

for heavens sake - use your brain
DO NOT SAY anything about getting married.
Of course you will be denied.
say something else, anything else, but dont say the word married. |

You will be denied for entry to US without Fiance visa at the airport by ANY immigration office, not just the moody one. If you do not mention about your wedding plan and they find evidence in your luggage, you will be denied for entry. Even if you bring all the UK immigration paper work, US immigration officer has total his or her discretion to make decision on your entry.
Visa Waiver is not for the fiance to come to US to get married. |

I think there are 2 ways to approach this, firstly the way you are intending to go about it which may not be the best way. It may be better to enter the U.S as a tourist and say nothing about your pending marriage. You will have your return ticket and providing you have never previously been denied entry, been deported, are not a convicted felon and have sufficient cash or credit cards to prove you can support yourself until your return date you should not have a problem. This may be a situation where the least said the better, I base this opinion on many visits to the U.S as a businessman and as a tourist. |
