I try to keep an open mind- I'm on your side, but I also know that we have to put an end to illegal immigration. Who I'm worried about are the illegal immigrants already here, what about them? They came here to work, to make the American Dream come true for them... it's not fair that legally, lots of them would never have a chance to come here. So, I think we should secure the borders, and make sure that the people already here can become legal, and soon- or else all the raids that they're doing will leave thousands of families without a mother, father, or even children. Come on, have a heart people!

Then you are the one who needs to read up on the latest statistics. They DO NOT contribute to our economy. They only thing they contribute is cheap labor at the same time, NOT paying taxes, tieing up our prison system, having babies in the BEST rooms at the hospital to which they aren't entitled and not pay a dime, most of the money they make gets sent back to Mexico. Remind me how they contribute to our economy? All the while I and every other LEGAL American is paying for all their damage.

Illegal immigration is not only harmful to our economy by putting Americans out of work, it is practically slavery. The illegals work for a few dollars an hour (driving the pay scale down for the rest of us), living in constant fear that if they don't make their employer happy, they'll be deported. They are a drain on our tax dollars by using public education and Medicaid (when they are elligible for it. A lot go without health care because they can't risk taking a day off)without paying any taxes. Besides, I feel that anyone who disrespects our immigration laws will disrepect all of our laws. I'm not against legal immigration, but we need to stop rampant illegal immigration.

Why should we continue to allow our own working poor, homeless, and unemployed to continue to suffer from the job loss, wage depression, and other burdens imposed by mass immigration?

The earlier waves of immigrants didn't bum rush across our borders by the millions. They came here legally through Ellis Island. They were screened for disease. They didn't demand welfare handouts. There is a big difference between the two.

Dear brunneteesarbetter, on the contrary,many people posting information on this website do support what they say with facts. Of course you there are those who are full of hate or ignorance and dont have much to say; but, many of the people posting here do share facts (along with their opinions).

All of the pro-illegals do not have facts to back up their claims because there are none. All of their arguments are based on compassion. When pro-illegals tell us that "illegal aliens are keeping the economy running", where's the proof? When pro-illegals keep telling us that illegal aliens "do the jobs that Americans won't do," where's the proof? When pro-illegals tell us that "we cannot deport all of the illegals here," where's the proof?

When someone actually comes out with some facts saying otherwise, then maybe I will listen.

Legal immigration is good, and they are very welcome here. Yes you are very right, this country was founded on immigration, but it was in fact legal immigration, the people were very happy just to be here, and wanted to call America home. Another fact is that most of those coming from Mexico and Latin America, are doing it illegally, and yes numbers show that to be a fact. Illegal aliens are doing nothing good for the U. S. A., and this to is a fact. The people came to this country years ago, also had something called respect, respect for our country and its laws, and never never, did they march in our streets.

Read the subtext. They don't care about whether immigration is legal or illegal, they're using "immigrant" as a euphamism for "Mexican". It's an attempt at making politically correct racial slurs. As a national security issue, illegal immigration is right up there with jay walking.

The anonymous answerer who answered second- those figures are blatant lies. The federal budget is available online, and I suggest you look it up.
