If it happens, the invasion of Iran will likely occur next year (Pres. Bush's last year in office). Take a good look at Iraq and superimpose that image onto Iran for a good idea of the aftermath.
Nukes will probably only be used in response to an NBC (nuclear-biological-chemical) counterattack. |

First of all. The US gave Iraq 12 years and 17 chances (UN Resolutions) before invading.
I don't think Iran has come close to that point yet.
You might see an Israeli strategic air attack on Iranian nuclear facilities before the US even comes close to invading. |

I would doubt it. Last time one was used was over 50 years ago, and coincidentally it was also the first time they were used. Now a lot of nations have them, and they've always been viewed as a last resort. A pre-emptive nuclear strike by the US would be a disaster, our image as America would change overnight. |

The US cant invade iran. china will not let them as it will destabilise the entire region. China holds huge amounts of US dollars and could call them in at once and blow the US economy. Also they've got the largest standing army/airforce etc so I dont think the US would dare.
the biggest worry is israel going it alone. they have consistently ignored UN resolutions before and have no qualms about acting unilateraly with or without the blessing of the US if they feel Israel's threatened. |

I dont think so. Currently,they do not have the manpower to do an Iraq style invasion/occupation. They can do pre-emptive strikes with the objective of weakening, not destroying Iran. No nukes either. Outcome, look at Iraq in 1991. |

nobody is going to invade anybody, common, why do you have a thirst for war, its all economics, zero human rights, ethics and morals, pure economic interest, why r we in Iraq?, this is the most war munger country after Germany in the 20th century |

Being as illegal Iranian militants are invading Iraq and sponsoring terrorism, I do see an escalation in military intervention. I do not see nuclear weapons being used by the USA unless terrorists use them first. |

Iran as I see them are like the Islamic militants who will not
hesitate to blow up the whole world just to show that they can.
A nuclear weapon in their hand is like giving a machine gun as
a toy to a seven year old child. Invasion of Iran is a necessity
when dialogues fail. Time is running out and hopefully Iran will
come to their senses and stop trying to be top dog of the Islamic
world before it is too late like in Saddam's case. After the invasion
is anybody's guess. |

If you listen to the very superficial reporting in the news media - you would get this impression.
However if you pay close attention to the things we have actually done - you would notice that we are following a containment policy not a policy of military confrontation. For example we have been carefully neutralizing Iran's offensive military capabilities (the recent deployment of Patriot missiles is an example) while using financial sanctions to reduce Iran's ability to pay for a nuclear weapons program.
And the fact that President Bush has carefully committed us to nothing regarding Iran is keeping everybody guessing. As a result we get all the advantages of the rumors and speculation of military action without having to actually take any military action. (And still be able to honestly state that we have never threatened Iran!) |

Um YEA !, They are at that point, if anyone pulls another 911, I'm pretty sure that they will "Launch" and take them out perminantly, Americans are pretty pissed off right about now ! Look what they've done to their past enemy's, you don't want to be on the recieving end of that ! |

DON'T BE SO FOOLISH. The US got it's as s kicked in Vietnam, it's having major problems in Iraq. If the US goes nuclear, it will be the end of the planet. The US has very few allies left, that move would loose them. China and Russia would be a bit upset. And what has Iran done anyway. The Pres. of Iran is merely a figurehead and does not even have the support of the people. On the other hand, if Bush is, as many have implied, Empire building, and being the idiot that he is, he may try something. But I really think the American people are to intelligent to let him get to far with it. |
