Where Has Common Sense Gone?
|
According to The Inland North County Times (April 22, 2009), El Grupo, an umbrella group of civil rights organizations, held a press conference to call on the city of Escondido to replace its police chief because his policies, especially his department's frequent use of driver's license checkpoints, have created an atmosphere of fear in the community.
At the press conference, a woman said her sister was arrested at a checkpoint and turned over to immigration authorities.
"I don't think what the police are doing is right," said the woman, who, according to the Times, did not want her name published because she said she has other family members in the country illegally, including two of her sister's four children.
Who cares what she thinks? If she doesn't like the way we enforce our laws, she can go back to Mexico. Last year, an illegal immigrant without auto insurance hit my car. An attorney's only advice was that I buy "no fault"insurance next time. According to her, the police wouldn't even arrest her, let alone get her deported.
What a sense of entitlement these people have to think they ought to call the shots. They don't respect our laws or our flag. Many get involved in crime and gangs.
If we're a nation of racists, we wouldn't have 12 million+ illegals here. We wouldn't have a black president. Online, blacks are against illegal immigration because illegals turn Compton's working class neighborhoods into slums. Vietnamese are against iillegals because some say they almost died coming here by boat. Why should illegals get an easy path? There is even a Latino group based in Santa Ana who opposes illegal immgration because illegals drive wages down.
This is not a conflict between white people and people of color. This is about protecting our citizens of every color from law breakers. I support the Escondido police chief and the check points. I support America.

Amazing, and totally wrong.
--------------------------------------...
Obviously you don't have any sense. Could you imagine the price of fruits and veggies if the immigrants where paid $15.00 an hour. How much would a salad cost. The farmers would become as greedy as the foreign oil companies. I don't seriously doubt you would even work in the fields for $20.00 an hour standing or bending over in the hot sun and freezing mornings. I never really seen very many Caucasians working in the fields, unless their the owners or supervise rs checking to make sure everyone is moving still. By the way thousands of immigrants who cross The Rio Grande and the blazing hot deserts die each year for just a taste of the american life. Which almost half of it was Mexico Territory and the rest Indian Territory before it became The United States of America. They come here for a better education and better pay rates, then what they are offered in their country.
--------------------------------------...
Mexico is rich.. but it is corrupt. They want Americans to hire and pay the illegal aliens enough money to allow then to live. Ugly stuff out there to boot.
Bet your bippy on this folks: the country belongs to us now, and you cannot come back and seize it when you want to. DON"T come. |

Common sense was outlawed by the libs.... Checkpoints really affect those with something to hide! Obey the law and checkpoints are not a problem. |

your right on. but it's being rammed down our throats. pelosi says it's un-american to be against the illegals. shouldn't the speaker of the house find it un-american to break the law. that poor stupid woman napolitano now says that the illegals are not really breaking the law. i don't think she's defending my homeland. |

When you get a driver's license you agree to be subject to searches and field sobriety tests. If you didn't want that to be subject all you have to do is not get a driver's license!!! Walk, take the bus or ride a bicycle. If these checkpoints were conducted in border cities all over the U.S. we would have plenty of jobs, little problems with drugs and illegal immigrants. Fear is for the guilty! I welcome the search of my vehicle because I know that I have all my ducks in a row. I'm embarrassed at the lack of checkpoints in my city and the neighboring towns. I want to know that the person driving next to me and behind me have been checked for drunkenness, illegal weapons and all that's in between. It's a shame that police are so lazy that they only begin searching once someone has been killed or injured. Get off your fat duffs and do you jobs, law enforcement. Volunteer with your local police department to help keep scum off the road and out of our neighborhoods. Go ahead, search me. I have NOTHING to hide. To anyone that considers a check point as invasion of privacy: You are full of crap, you agreed to be subject to checks when you signed for a driver's license! Stop doing whatever or whomever you're afraid or ashamed of getting caught doing and all the fear goes away. |

The Escondido police should increase the number and frequency of the check points. The check points happen because there is a need for it. It's call law enforcement!! |

I at least give you credit for the observation which made you ask the question. Most americans no longer have common sense. If the average citizen did have it, we wouldn't be in the mess we are now. |

Checkpoints are a search without reason. We're constitutionally protected from illegal search and allowed free travel within the nation's borders, and I'd like to keep it that way. I spent a few years in Southern California after growing up in the Northeast... I was horrified at the use of checkpoints. Waaay too Orwellian.
If illegal immigration is the problem, then audit employers (and landlords?) more regularly. Randomly harassing citizens on the streets is no solution. |

Well I pretty much agree with you but having lived in a crappy neighborhood I can safely say it wasn't illegals that turned it crappy.
Primarily it was just a group of citizen idiots that did anything they wanted and a police force that was willing to let them. Things didn't change until the area became "Trendy." As far as the insurance is concerned I have "no fault". It was a white girl that hit my car and she had no insurance but she did get a ticket. I had "no fault" and still do.
Just because we have a black President doesn't mean we don't have a lot of racists in this country. Unemployment is still substantially higher among black than whites and since moving down south I have been a victim of "DWB" and racial epithets. I was born in Brooklyn.
We have the illegals because we have no way of sending them back economically nor the manpower to patrol the border. More important Americans want cheap efficient labor. So demand is a problem. That was apparent when 6 new homes were being built across from my house. White crew at 7am were smoking cigarettes and drinking beer. Framing took 3 days 1st house. 2nd house the crew was mixed spanish and white. Framing took 2 days. The rest was all spanish and each house took 1 day for framing.
Later one of the white guys who was drinking and smoking said the spanish guys took their job. I asked if they took it or did he give it to them? |

1.Who cares what she thinks? Obviously you do because you came on here and wrote about her.
2. Not all illegal immigrants are from Mexico. Some are from other countries and come here legally only to overstay their visas thus becoming illegal immigrants.
3. The vast majority do not get involved in crime, so saying many of them do is just ignorant and hateful.
4. I know youre mad because someone hit your car but next time buy full coverage insurance on your car because even if it was an american with no insurance it would have been the same result.
5. I dont know why you would support these checkpoints they are so unconstitutional and a total invasion of privacy its ridiculous. |
