I'm looking for the number of immigrants to the US by country and by year. It has to go back at least to 1970.
(Basically, I want to be able to find the number of people that came to the US from X country in X year.)
The more specifically you can tell me where to find it (as in, "here's a link" vs. "did you try xxxxx.com?") ... I've just spent a good 45 minutes looking and haven't found it yet. I feel like I'm missing something that's on one of the sites I've already looked at!

Have you tried the United States Foreign Born Population statistics on the US Census Bureau site? You may need to look at several data sets, but the information you're looking for is all there in one form or another. Unfortunately, your last census was way back in 2000 so it's all a bit out of date now.

Here's a better source. It's from your DHS and shows immigrants by country by year from 1820 to 2007:
