Wellit depends on where they are from. If they are Hindus they don't eat beef, Muslims don't eat pork. Chicken or fish is always safe. Do a nice roast chicken with mash and veg. Maybe a green salad and some nice bread. Don't make anything to fussy to eat..some countries don't use forks or sit at tables....

It's easy to say a traditional British meal there is different traditional food in almost every region and corner of the U.K..You would also have to consider what their religion was and can they eat certain meats.Do a bit of research and treat them to a traditional meal from the country of their origin that should welcome them and make them feel like home.

Well, I'm not in the UK.. But if I was welcoming somebody with a meal, it would be a:
Take your pick buffet with
Beer. sodas. water, juice
Ice, got to have ice.
Hamburgers
smoked brisket with special sauces included, got to have the sauces with brisket.
sausages
Potatoe salad
baked potatoes
corn on the cob
watermelon
and all the fixin's to go with the meal
and all the american foods that we Americans love to eat !!!
