Which way is faster to get married?

Church / Court to help my boyfriend to stay here in USA? If you going to be negative about my question you can leave this page!

If you want a fast and hassle free one, try the court wedding. Preparation and paperwork requirements is less. I have known of friends who found it difficult to get a church wedding esp. if the other party is from other country and is not a member of their church. They have to present first some documents coming from the church of their mother country. It will be easier perhaps if you inquire ahead of time in your church what will be the requirements. In court weddings, all you need is a marriage license to get married.

not sure what type of church but most of the Christian churches require you to me members in good standing, go through classes and training AND not be getting married to be able to "stay in the USA". your best bet is a court house.

BTW - in the USA, if you ask a question on a public forum - everyone has the right to asnwer - whether they are polite or rude.

Simply getting married is the easliest part, and by far the fastest. It's all the paperwork afterwards that makes this a real chore. First off, if he didn't come here legally to begin with, there's nothing you can do for him while he's in the US. He's not allowed to adjust status and get a green card if he never had any legal status. You could still file the petition, but he'd have to return home for an immigrant visa interview and then apply for a waiver as he's ineligible based on his illegal stay here. That can add up to 6 months in processing time all by itself. The petition itself will take a year or so to process, so he wouldn't need to get on the next plane back. However, he would remain suject to deportation while you're waiting for all this.

Now, if he did come here legally to begin with, you're in much better shape. You'd need to file an I-130 petition, an I-485 adjustment of status request, and a work authorization request, among other things. but file them all at once, even though it's expensive, over $1,300. Check out uscis.gov for more information and downloadable forms, and if he came legally be sure to read the instruction sheet for the I-485 in the forms section as there's lots of important information for you there.

Courthouse. You can apply 4 the marriage license, and if the courthouse celebrates marriage everyday, you can just make an appointment 4 the next day upon receiving the marriage license.
Good luck!

church is always the best and you could get a REAL wedding together in two weeks. If you can't wait two weeks court is your best bet. Than if you need to file for his papers asap! Go to USCIS.GOV they can show you each step you need to go through! Good luck!
