I agree with you 100%. I don't understand why we keep rewarding these menaces for their criminal behavior. I know the children are innocent. I know that. I just believe that the parents should have to be held accountable for their actions instead of taking for granted that no matter what happens, their offspring here are going to be taken care of by the American tax payers. |

Ah yes, the infamous "anchor baby" law. It should be thrown out with the rest of the trash, right back over the border. |

I completely agree with you. People shouldnt be able to come here in violation of our laws and then get citizenship for their kids. People who break our laws should be punished, but this loophole rewards them. |

I agree that if BOTH parents are illegal, they all get deported>> No matter WHERE the child was born. However, I believe that if AT LEAST ONE of that childs parents is a legal American citizen that child should be considered an AMERICAN citizen. I have read accounts where a woman who is an American citizen marries a man from an Eastern country (Pakistan, Afganistan..) has a child here, they divorce and HE takes the child back to that country. The mother never sees the child again, even though the child was BORN here of a legal citizen. USA citizens who have children BORN here should keep their children HERE. |

Parents that try to use their children as tools, should be punished for their actions. |

What you are saying makes way too much sense for it to ever pass. The politicians are scared to propose any such thing because the Hispanic vote reflects the largest minority. Apparently it doesnt make a difference that 95% of Americans are totally fed up with the problem.
I agree with you 100%. Now, the Republicans have done NOTHING. God forbid a Democrat gets in office, it will only get worse. We're screwed. |

I absolutely agree with you. We need to push for this to be changed. The tide against illegals is growing and cannot be stopped. |

I couldn't agree more but it won't happen under this administration. Bush wants to give them a free ride and open the borders for all. He believes in a one world government and open borders are part of that. |

To bad america is built on Loop holes, here is one you probably didn't know, the King of Thailand was born in Boston, The most loved King and probably the best King in the world today, and he is actually an American because he was born in America, go figure! |

I agree! They come here to have "anchor babies". That's what they look at them as, an anchor within the law that allows them to stay here. And do you know that "anchor baby's" give them the right to draw welfare just because the baby was born here. When my son was born my wife and I had to show valid identification when his birth certificate was filled out and we are born here! So how do they get a birth certificate if they don't have a valid ID? And that is a huge anchor by the way. They need to weigh anchor and go back home if they don't want to do it right! |

Girl you have no idea what you're talking about in 1940 nobody wanted to come to the US. The US Became something after WWII and then was when immigration laws became more strict. Before that anyone could come to the US because the requirements were not hard to meet.
Regarding the children thing. When the first immigrants came here there were no immigration laws, so every kid born here was considered american, if it would had not been like that, there would had not been any revolution, because if the ones born here were not americans but Englands, then they would be fighting againts their own goverment, but the ones born here were different people from englands and thats why they could fight againts them. They would had not fought them if they would had felt part of them.
Children are innocent and they are not guilty for their parents mistakes. They dont choose where they are born. So any kid born here deserves to be called american. Thats what the constitution says, and you cant change what the founders of this country wanted since the beginning. |

I do not agree with you.
Children Born to illegal Aliens are allowed to be documented because they were born in the U.S. and not elsewhere. As such, they are entitled to the Rights and Privileges of the land in which they were born. If an American is in another country, legally or illegaly, and has a child on foreign soil then their children are usually considered citizens of the country in which the child was born. Of course, that's depending on where you are. As such, America has the same rules about immigrant births as many other countries.
You are racist. You may not think it, but some part of you is racist enough to ask that question. |

My understanding is that the Supreme Court never actually ruled on this point, but specifically reserved it. So I reserve my opinion on what the Constitution says on this point, as well.
I agree it is bad policy, but I don't like messing with the Constitution unless necessary.
However, I am all for doing away with 'family reunification' preferences for anyone who did not have a legal permenant resident parent or citizen parent at the time of their birth. That would keep illegals from being able to 'leverage themself' in by giving birth in the US. |
