You know what.All businesses should stop using Spanish as an option.That way I can open my own businesses that do offer Spanish all over the country.I would offer only Spanish speaking services.They would have to go to my businesses.Brilliant!

Whose idea?
People at the bank/business who wanted to include customers whose first language is Spanish. They spend money too.

If the business finds that no one is using it, I agree that it is a waste of time and should be discontinued. But if the opposite is true, then maybe your possibly racist question should go away, shouldn't it?

Jose Maria Eduardo Gonzalez was first credited with adding spanish to banking communication options. He worked for Nationsbank, now Bank of America. The millions of illegals in this country have to be able to put their money somewhere. Banks are just profiting from this ridiculous situation.

no because do you think that people who come here from hispanic countries come here knowing spanish right away? And for some people its just easier to talk in their first language. What if you went go germany or Russia or some country whose language you don't speak? Don't you think it would be easier to speak in English than German or Russian?

Actually my banks ATM have 8 language options and if you want to ignore those it goes on in English. That's efficient business.

And no I don't. Would you rather get stuck behind someone who can't read the machine and sits there taking forever trying to get their money?

not at all, it makes it more convenient when servicing a multi-lingual population...but i'm sure there are other foreign language speakers whose needs are never addressed...just be lucky its only one alternate to wait through...there could be more

Spanish is the 2nd most widely spoken language in the world after English.Therefore it makes sense to add a Spanish language button to the ATM

I don't mind businesses catering to their customers. The only thing like this that bugged me was one question about a sign at an Arizona Carl's Jrs that actually asked customers to speak Spanish if they were able to, presumably for the convenience of their staff. THAT I thought was out of line.

I understand that even a legal resident of Mexico isn't allowed to work unless they can speak fluent Spanish.

Who cares whos idea it was.The fact is that it is their.My uncle has a huge business in Mexico and has bank accounts here in the U.S. he uses the spanish button,SO.You all are so lazy just press the damn 1 or say 1.That just proves how lazy everyone is.

I was thinking about this the other day.

Now, on the ATM machine I can understand. Why? Tourists.

However, when I call the bank or the store or anywhere in the U.S. that doesn't give you a live human when you call...that makes me mad.
