We do care about the Canadian border but the truth is that more illegals come across the Mexican border. Canadians are not likely to do anything to hurt the US. We are their military! But terrorists can come through Canada. |

The Canadian standard of living is very similar to that of the United States. For that reason, people typically do not think of Canadians as sneaking into the United States illegally, as most of the reasons that Canadians want to enter the United States is for vacations or for a business purpose with a company situated in both countries. While many Mexicans also cross for those same purposes, it is also felt that many want to come into the United States for purposes for which they will not be allowed to come legally, such as finding a job when they have no special skills or the like. While I have tremendous sympathy for these people, it doesn't matter, because most countries have the same policy, and are trying to protect the job market for their own citizens. I know this for a fact, because I am an American and I married a Canadian over two years ago, and I just recently got permission to work in Canada. I have been commuting to work in the United States for over two years. So I am here to say that it isn't easy for anyone, Americans, Canadians, or even Mexicans. |

Canadians aren't sneaking in illegally, and its not about not wanting Mexicans in the us, its about not wanting them in ILLEGALLY, and its not just Mexicans, i live in Florida and we get Cubans, Haitians and Guatemalans all coming in illegally, so its not about Mexicans getting in the us, its about them getting in illegally and we don't have that problem with Canadians. |

How many Canadians are flowing across the border? Compare that to our souhern border....those coming in from the south are doing so in numbers that it is becoming a growing problem. Illegal immigration is causing many problems that we don't even know about.
One scary statistic is that 30% of our jails are filled with illegals. Pretty soon, our hospitals and other things will be overrun and will cause our prices to rise to cover the cost of illegals. What if you get hit by a drunk-driving illegal immigrant that kills a family member or friend. This really does happen.
Illegals work below the minimum wage so they can have a job but they are only lowering the pay for jobs that are American's. This is driving wages down in America because if a business manager knows they can get away with paying some illegal pennies then he doesn't have to fork over more money for the same worker from America.
We already have laws on the books against illegal immigration...we just need to enforce them and deport all illegal immigrants back to the country they came from.
Don't for a second think this is racist. It is not. It is only a matter of illegality. Those who call this racist seek to stop the dialogue of finding a solution.
It is not inhumane to send those who came here illegally back to the country they came from. Our laws state that we deport those who are illegal. There is a process for those living in other countries to immigrate here LEGALLY and they should stand in line like everyone else.
p.s. Those who hire illegal immigrants need to be fined and/or jailed. They are just as bad because they give illegals a reason to come and stay here. If we can stop the businesses from hiring illegals then it will slow the illegals flowing across the border because who wants to come here and find a job that no one is willing to hire you for? I think that this is the first step toward fixing this illegal immigrant problem. |

It makes no sense to spend as much time and money securing the Canadian border. Why? Not because Americans are "racist" (which I think you need to reread the definition of) but because the flow of illegal immigrants from the North is a fraction of the number billowing in from the South. |

Well, it had been awhile since I had seen a variation of this question. So here we go again.
1. Do some math. You position the largest part of your resources where the largest part of your problem is. In this case it is the southern border.
2. As a CBP Officer stationed up North I can tell you for a fact that we care about our Canadian border. In fact we kicked out several Canadians last week. So take your misguided racist argument and go home. |

Well, 2 reasons, there are not as many canadian illeagals as mexicans and also the canadian goverment is strikter. For example, my friend Marlene was an illeagal immigrant form canada and the CANADIAN goverment made her and her family move back. |

I personally walked across the border into Mexico in 5 different cities and NOT ONCE was my ID even checked, nor was anybody else's ID checked . So obviously they don't care who enters their country from the U.S. They have orders to shoot on sight if you enter illegally into Mexico from the southern border.
Crossing back into the U.S. from Canada, I wife and I were questioned for 10 minutes...and I'm a "white male", retired military. |

Border control is essential. It sounds like you have not crossed in the Canadian border. I believe the difference of who gets across more easily can be many factors. Education is one key factor. What can you contribute to the US? Manual labor is not a good reason. Are you just working to take money out of the country? Why not contribute to the economy of the US? Canada has a strong economical foundation, with leadership that listens to it's citizens. It is expensive to live there, but people also receive benefits, like education, medical care and pensions. Their borders are more blended because of the same economic desires as the US. They work together not against other. Let me ask you what has the Mexican government done to encourage growth, medical care and jobs? Education to improve the workers' skills and work ethics are needed. |
