Why The Ghurkas out and Australian ancestorals in UK?

How is it that young australian born people who simply have a parent or grandparent who were born in uk are entitled to citizenship of the country.
These australians havent contributed a single penny or any effort to the uk which their parents obviously chose to leave. Meanwhile former serving Ghurka defence service personnel are refused the rights to live there by The Home Office. How on earth can this be justified ?

I don't particularly go with your comparison with Aussies, but I worked with the Ghurkas and they are magic men. From children their ambition is to enter the British Army and feel it a great honour.
I agee that the UK govt is treating them appallingly. I think that public pressure will come to bear, and the 1997 rule will change
