Why are illegal aliens trying to get rights if we allow this it wouldn't mean anything to be an a US citizen

I am personally against giving rights to people who have no respect for the law by entering or remaining illegally, however they are desperate to get rights because usually they are very impoverished or refugees from tyranny and want badly to stay in the US where even abject poverty is better than what they had.

And no, we are all not illegal aliens as one person suggested. The American Indians were not the first here. When their ancestors came over here, there already existed people before them. Those people were then conquered, killed, or assimilated by the ancestors of the American Indians.

Conquering was for thousands of years, an accepted part of the life of mankind and countries grew out of those wars. We are simply one of those countries. I was born in this country and I am a citizen.

Because they already get everything else from are goverment why shouldn't they think they diserve rights to with out working for it like the rest of us, who are law abiding and hard working people who contribute to a better country. It's like carrier criminals they think they have rights to and they don't.

I believe that it is one thing to be an American (born and raised in the U.S.) it is something else to be a citizen (one who resides in the U.S) If one is going to make the U.S. their home they should first learn the language and culture. Then they should abide by the rules. Times are hard yes, but resorting to illegal activities is not the answer. BTW cyran, I am indian. I also think that there will never truly be a proper acceptable apology that we could ever give the true occupants of this land that we tried so desperately to annihilate.

on the contrary. it would mean exactly the same things to be a US citizen- great rights, good protection, and lots of opportunity for those who are willing to apply themselves. the only difference is that more people would have that chance. citizenship of a nation isn't and shouldn't be some exclusive club like the DAR for which you have to trace your lineage back centuries. it's a sign of your allegience, of where your loyalty stands, and of who is backing you up. i quite enjoy being a US citizen, and i would like to afford other people the benefits that i have.

Basically, I take from that question/statement, you think somehow by us being Americans we are somehow better than the rest of the world...we are the ones who take God out of school, our elected officials, are the ones who have ALLOWED illegal immigration to continue. We are always trying to fight someone or boss someone around. How about the wire taping that is part of the freedom act...does being a US Citizen mean anything anymore? It means we work 50 years and still never own anything (damn taxes) it means we are regulated and controlled. America was built a great country, but over the last decade it has went down hill...don't blame illegals for problems that we are responsible for....did you vote in those officials who choose not to reform immigration?

It isn't really about illegals getting rights. It is more about illegals not wanting to be held accountable for their illegal activity. According to the PEW Hispanic research center the vast majority of illegals do not want amnesty. They do not want to assimilate. They do not want to become Americans.

If these so called illigal (immigrants, Humans) obtain their rights, and do become citizens, then they'll have the same rights as you do. the freedom of speech, freedom of religion, the freedom to bear arms and defend this country like you should. the right to vote, unlike many of you do..
and what difference will it make to you?. Nothing. you'll go on making what ever of your life, without change, or noticing anything. just that they will be able to work legally, and contribute you this economy, to your social security, which right now can't contribute and can't benefit from.

There are millions of illegal aliens living and working in the US. They almost all pay taxes in some form or another, for example, they pay sales tax and some even pay income taxes. Illegal aliens are often doing work in the US for less money than US citizens will--in this way they are an integral and perhaps necessary part of the US economy. Certainly to eliminate the work they perform all at once from the economy would be devastating. They are trying to get rights because they are aware of their important and under appreciated position in the US.
