Why are peole declared racists when they try to tackle the immigration question on illegals.?

Mostly due to pro-illegal immigration people needing to make their view sound good. They spin everything around to confuse the issue and try to get the debate focused on an area that gives them a better chance to win. It is not racist to say that people immigrating from oter countries so do so legally and to demand that those who enter illegally are properly punished for doing so and held accountable. It is just one of many tactcis they use to try and confuse and circumvent the real issue here.

If you look closely, the whole debate about illegal immigration seems to center clearly on people from Mexico and Latin America. The only "border" that is being fenced is between Mexico & the US. I firmly believe that there is anti-Latin, anti-Spanish, anti-Catholic bias at the center of the hostility. I don't see much concern about all of the Canadian, Australian or other European (Caucasians) that have overstayed their visas.

In one of the places I work,
There is a cook, who is from Mexico.
There is a waitress, from Albania, light skin, light brown hair.
He works 50 hours a week. She waits tables. He speaks very broken English. She is trilingual. He has very little school. She graduated from college.

Can you guess who the illegal person is?
The cook has his papers, he pays taxes.
The young white waitress' school visa expired 2 years ago. She was supposed to go back after graduation but hasn't and knows she will face deportation if she goes for renewal. Our government help paid for that college education she has.

Racism? If INS were to come in- I guarantee they go straight for the kitchen and would not look at the waitress once!

It is NOT racist to call these people "illegal aliens" In fact, "illegal aliens" is the only term used in federal laws and regulations to describe criminals (and they ARE criminals) who come into our country illegally. They are not illegal immigrants, not undocumented immigrants, not migrant workers, and not day laborers - they're ILLEGAL ALIENS.

Of the approximately ELEVEN MILLION illegal aliens in the U.S., approximately one-half (1/2) are Mexican.

The initial stand taken by legal Americans was against ILLEGAL aliens. The Mexican population turned it into a "racist" issue in order to draw attention to themselves and, by doing so, cower those who are afraid of being labeled as a racist (primarily Democrats). I am not a racist by any means; I AM, however, very much in disagreement with illegal immigrants, regardless of their Country of origin.

As so many have said on here, in different ways but with the same meaning, when all else fails, pull the ol' "race card."

OH, MY STARS!!! Can it be TRUE?!! You mean in order to become a citizen of Mexico, I must RESPECT their culture? I must SPEAK THE LANGUAGE, know the history and ASSIMILATE WITH THE CULTURE?!! Yet, those who are coming here, legally or otherwise, expect the U.S. to cater to them by offering everything in Spanish as well as English.

In fact, if you are such a leader, then the very best thing you could do for your people is to return to Mexico, campaign quietly and build up a huge grass roots movement to overthrow the Mexican government and hold new elections, discarding anyone who has any taint of corruption around them. But, honey, you're going to do nothing here but cause yourself to burn with hate, which will just eat up your own heart and soul. If you're not here legally, then please leave and return legally. People who claim it's racist are the ones who are pro illegal immigration. They do it because the political correct people will back off and do all they can to force everyone else to back off too.

Every person for illegal immigration needs to compensate these innocent people who have had their social security numbers and identities stolen by these illegals who invade our country with no care who they hurt. They should have to not only compensate the money lost from their social security accounts after they are zeroed out once the fraud is detected, but every last cent the victims had to pay taking time off work, every cent that went into photocopying documentation, every cent that went towards lawyers and gas driving somewhere to get this mess taken care of, and any other financial expenditure the victim had to cough up. They should also be forced to compensate the victims for the emotional hardships endured. They should have to compensate for the money and time spent trying to straighten out their credit ratings after these illegals have ruined them. They should be forced to compensate these victims for every single hardship related to what these illegals have inflicted upon these people. Currently, the system does not provide any compensation at all and a lot of people are never restored to previctimization status. Oh but these pro-illegals claim that illegal immigration is a victimless crime that hurts no one and that we are whining when we complain.

You think these illegals care that they are hurting innocent lives? Their loyalty is to Mexico. They proved that during one of the first rallies when they took down the American flag, hung up the Mexican flag, and then hung the American flag upside down underneath it. THAT is how they feel about America.

Then the people who want to appease them pull out the excuses about how people who are not even alive now, and haven't been for hundreds of years, 'stole' the land from the American Indians. Even American politicians are carrying out this traitorous attack on our sovereignty! If this keeps up, the United States of America will become a 3rd world country, just like Mexico! Mexico's problems are not the fault of Americans, but they are becoming our problems because the Mexicans are invading us and bringing their problems with them.

The illegals make up about 5 % of the work force. The unemployment rate is about 4.5%. Keep in mind that the unemployment rate does NOT represent everyone who is unemployed. It only counts those who are collecting unemployment. Everyone else's plight is ignored. The unemployment rate if everyone was counted would be tremendous. We do NOT have a shortage of labor, we have a large surplus. The more illegals that come in and take our jobs at minimum wage or less (often less) puts more and more Americans out of a job. Most of these Americans are never counted in the unemployment rate if they do not manage to get unemployment benefits. Unemployment benefits are hard to receive.

Illegals draw welfare by stealing people's social security numbers and identities. That means there are a lot of people being directly hurt by these people as well. Innocent people are having their credit ratings ruined, having IRS problems, and social security problems. If someone who has had their social security number stolen gets married, if either spouse dies or become disabled then they can be denied their benefits.

My family moved to the US before WWII. Those of my family that didn't make it over got killed by the death camps. Our family assimilated to the American culture. We didn't expect the Americans to change to suit us. The illegal immigrants from Mexico are not civilized like that.

They not only changed the National Anthem to Spanish, they changed the words. They already burn our flag and hang our flag upside down. They waved the Mexican flag during a lot of their protests. Some schools have stopped hanging the American flag and forbidden students from wearing clothes with any part of the American flag on their clothing all to keep from offending the Mexicans. It's nothing short of an attack of our country, not only by the illegal aliens, but those who seek to appease them.

I am tired of the stereotype that Americans wouldn't do the work that illegals do. Illegals do all kinds of jobs for less than minimum wage which drives the wages down for U.S. citizens. Construction jobs are an example. There are lots of illegals doing construction jobs that Americans used to do because the companies can keep more of the profits if they pay less for the workers. All that does is make companies wealthier and Americans poorer. Illegals are stealing jobs that Americans have done for years.

Thus, in orchestrating this war on America, the Mexican state is representing the desires of the Mexican people as a whole.

What are these desires?

(1) Political revanchismâ€”to regain control of the territories Mexico lost to the U.S. in 1848, thus avenging themselves for the humiliations they feel they have suffered at our hands for the last century and a half;

(2) Cultural imperialismâ€”to expand the Mexican culture and the Spanish language into North America; and especially

(3) Economic parasitismâ€”to maintain and increase the flow of billions of dollars that Mexicans in the U.S. send back to their relatives at home every year, a major factor keeping the chronically troubled Mexican economy afloat and the corrupt Mexican political system cocooned in its status quo. Because that is their only defense they can resort to. I feel the same way. I've asked serious questions and people call me racist with no legitimate backup for an answer. I am not racist, I am actually Hispanic(half Puertorican and half mexican) but I am an American before all . I just happen to go with facts and whats right .

Cuban immigrants (who tend to be more Caucasian looking than mestizo Mexicans) get less hostility, but when Haitians arrive in Miami shores, they get thrown back. Why the preference?
Here in NYC, Eastern Europeans overstay their visas. And they don't tend to be too law abiding. We don't hear that often, do we?
That raises questions.

Because it detracts from the real issue.....people are always making excuses, justifying their behavior. It's really quite sad that people can't simply discuss an issue without race being brought into it.

It is a defense mechanism. If a mexican crossing the border illegally is caught...the mexicans would immediately say "RACISTS". They think everything that is "by the book" is a racist act. You are a racist to them no matter what you say. If you say the word "tortilla" they assume you're making fun of them and you are a racist. If you can't help them with their question because you don't speak their language...you're a racist. To avoid being accused of one, don't look at them, don't talk to them, don't acknowledge their presence...it's safer that way.

There argument is poor so they result to name calling. It has worked for some and so its the same trick used again. No wants to be thought that way. On the same hand those who use it foolishly are showing that trait on themselves and do not see the error of their ways. Don't back down-if the race isn't the issue but other factors-say so-why listen to fools?

When people don't want to confront the truth because it will make them accountable, they employ "defense mechanisms" such as this to detract from the original issue. It is a "my way only" mindset and there is really no way to reason with these types because they are not capable of an exchange of ideas or possible solutions, because they want it to be "all your fault".

this country is founded on immagration their is nothing wrong with them as long as the support themselves and work and they are here illegally but one day this country will be full and we will have to immagrate
