Nice Rant....but lets get a few other facts straight....

1) This is the year 2007....not 200 to 300 years ago...what happened then has NOTHING to do with todays world....they didnt have to deal with bankrupt hospitals, and high taxes that citizens had to pay due to illegal immigration...and a few other problems that Illegals today present...

2) Americans are not against immigration...just ILLEGAL immigration...

3) Mexico doesnt have an illegal immigration problem...they catch them, abuse them, then deport them...so what does that have to do with America's illegal immigration problem??

4) btw, nice generalization about Americans being ignorant...I think your question shows exactly who the ignorant one is...and BTW, I feel just fine after reading your question...good day!

We're not as ignorant as you think but thanks anyway for the history lesson. Now, if any of the ILLEGAL immigrants coming into this country can read what you wrote perhaps THEY'LL understand why WE are so touchy about their coming across our borders ILLEGALLY. My ancestors arrived in this country in 1738 before this was a United States and became LEGAL CITIZENS after the revolutionary war. That's why I think these people that think they can just walk across the border and attain all the rights of citizenship need to be deported and try again LEGALLY. ILL-eagle is not some sick bird, it's a matter of obeying our laws right from the start. Now, do you comprehend?

what makes me sick from this whole situtation is the simple fact that my MOTHER had to study and such to be legal..... It took along time...So WHY should I just let these illegal immigrants get a free ride? THEY are BREAKING the rules......I don't care about what hardships they had to endor..... My guess is that you are so ignorant of the illegal problem and the negative impact it is having because it doesn't effect you. After reading this I feel the same as I did before reading this. Your arguement carries no weight and I still want all illegals out.

Are they against migrants or illegals? Many Americans have had friends and familly rejected by immigration or waited for a long time to be accepted. I don't think it is migration they are against but queue jumpers. You would most likely be one of the first people to shout up if some one pushed you out of the way when you were waiting to be served in a shop. The US has hundreds of legal migrants rejected every year why should illegals be allowed to stay when they are queue jumpers? Come on give people a fair go before putting your mouth into gear before your brain.

Make sure you differentiate between legal and illegal. Americans are happy that people can legally immigrate here. Americans welcome, warmly, legal immigrants. It is only those who choose to disrespect the laws of the country (which my ancestors DID obey) that tick me off.

Think about this... is it fair that an illegal immigrant should cut in line ahead of someone who has paid the fees, done the paperwork, and is sitting and waiting patiently somewhere in the world to legally immigrate? Is it right that we reward the ones who cut in line, and make the others wait? I think not. Legal immigrants should be allowed in, absolutely. They are obviously law abiding and respectful if they are coming the right way, and that is exactly the type of people we want in our country.

Edit: One more thought. You are wrong about "therefore meaning American is entirely made up of immigrants". The slaves were not immigrants. They had no choice in coming here.

There has to be laws established for society to operate by, and everyone is expected to obey those laws, regardless of nationality.

Obviously illegal aliens have little respect for the laws, or they would not illegally immigrate.

This lack of respect for our laws is obviously also why there are so many illegal immigrants in our prisons.

What makes our country prosper, is not the land that we live in, but the code we live in. When the first European came here, they were barbaric, as you noted. They slowly evolve and taught their Children a better life. We created laws that protect people from what they once were. People don't come here because of the land, but the society that allows us to prosper. A major part of that society is our laws. Our econom prosper becasue we regulate it. Our people prosper, because we watch over them.

Your "argument" is not at all beneficial to illegal aliens. If what you are saying is true then it only strengthens the case against illegal aliens coming to America. Furthermore I do not believe in this immigration gene that you seem to believe in which is that because my grandfather was an immigrant there is a strong chance that I might be one too.

We are citizens, not illegal aliens. That gives the right of vote and the power to decide. Whether born or naturalized, the nation is the citizen's nation, not the land of illegal aliens and that is the fact.
There aren't any nations without a history of immigration. That doesn't confer the right to enter other nations at will.
Many illegal aliens come from nations which much harder laws than our own. That is so very hypocritical.
Americans are NOT against immigration for that is legal.

you are right but remember other immigrants came over by boat say from italy to name 1 country . they came through ellis island and signed paper work to become legal and paid taxes and contributed to this country.they also spoke english or tried and taught there chidren to speak this language because this is america and we should speak the language of this country and respect the religions and holidays of this country and try to be what america should be. the only problem i see with say majority but not all of mexican immigrants is they do not become legal and they try to live in this country the way they do in mexico and they dont try hard enough to teach themselves or the children this language of english. nobody will argue that the majority of them work hard. but that is not enough.health care and the economy suffers to much with over 15,000,000 illegals in this country

We're against illegal immigration. Live in a state like mine (Arizona) and you'll see firsthand the problem of illegal immigration.

I think Dennis Miller said it best (even though he's gone rather nuts recently) when he said to those coming to the U.S. illegally. "I understand completely why you're doing it. But at least sign the guestbook before you come in."

Our social services (cops, firefighters, hospital staff, public schools, sanitation, etc) that gets funded in large part in regards to the Census count. We put X amount of dollars out there for our cops, our firefighters, our hospitals, our public schools, etc, in order to accommodate what we believe is the appropriate number of people who need them. How in the world are the firefighters supposed to provide for a community which they deem is 40,000, when in actuality, the number is closer to 65,000, 25,000 people we don't know are there? Understaffed, underfunded, and it affects everyone. Ask the public schools how crowded their classes are and how there's not enough teachers. Ask the hospitals how understaffed they are, and how long the wait in the ER is?

Just let us know you're here. Please. This affects everyone. It's like buying food for 20 people, and 35 show up. That's not going to work at all, and everyone gets short changed because of it.

As for the Native American bit, I have no idea where you're going with that. I know a number of Native Americans, and they don't hate me because someone who may have been my relative, took someone's land, who may or may have not been their relative, hundreds of years ago.

Not to sound crude, but this isn't the Middle East. We don't hold grudges over here because some relative of mine, hundreds of years ago, pissed off someone else, who may have been the relative of someone else that I know.

actually I'm Armenian and let me tell you something. My entire family was slaughtered during world war one. They didn't know English when they came to this country and had nothing because everything they had was taken from them. They were dark from the deserts they walked across and delt with the same racisim as African Americans as a result. They still DID NOT BREAK THE LAW. They came to the US and waited for their citizenship and followed all the requirments. So how do I feel about illigal immigration. BAD, because it's not fair to the rest of the people that have to wait and who aren't nicly so close to the border as Mexico. And guess what, my family learned English. There were no "press one for Armenian" buttons. They had no help at all. So don't give me this crap that I'm against immigration. I'm against illigal immigration. I don't think it's ok to break laws. My family never did and neither did many others.

There is a difference between settling in a land that is basicly uninhabited and comming into an already overpopulated one. When the first SETTLERS came here.....this was pretty open country. No roads ,no sewers, no electricity, no businesses, no skyscrapers....there was NOTHING. Compare that to now? Forget it.

They didn't come here for jobs because there were no jobs to be had. It was sheer survival. They didn't come here for an education.....there were no schools. They didn't come here for a better life because they didn't have a clue what it was here. They came for a different life and freedom . Hope, dreams ...based on the unknown. No promises...no guarentees...no American Dream.

You do know that since then we created a government and laws. This isn't the same place it was then. Time has changed and you should keep up with it. America isn't against immigration, they welcome it as long as it is done legally. There are civil laws in place that forbids entering the country illegally, is it so wrong to ask people to do things in accordance to laws of the country they are in?

Yes many of them are hardworkers but they still broke a law. Also many of them use benefits reserved for citizens and don't have to pay taxes. You don't go to a restaurant and order food and then walk off without paying but it happens everyday at hospitals and schools.
My parents came here and made a life for themselves legally. They never asked for government handouts, lied about how much they made, forged fake documents- they were hard workers who wanted to better their lives and respect the laws of there new home country.
I really think the ignorance is from you and your knowledge of the US government.

Nice speech.The only contributions I see made by illegals are made lining their own pockets and to their own countries.I seriously think it's unfair that they can just sneak over here,make tons of money (which they send back home, so how is this contributing to the USA ?), while others pay thousands of dollars in fees trying to immigrate legally.My ancestors were immigrants who came legally.They didn't demand things they weren't entitled to and cry racism if things didn't go their way.Even the members of my family who were victims of racism in the 50's and 60's,found a way to overcome it and become successful.I really could care less about the obstacles illegals face,as far as I'm concerned their struggles are self inflicted.I'm sure nobody is forcing them to come here.I know for a fact I'm not inviting them over.

No one is denying that America is made up of immigrants. Native Americans also immigrated to this land. Why go back in history? According to you, if it happened in the past, it's okay in present times. So according to you child labor, slavery, tax evasion, and other laws put in place in the last 200+ years are invalid and should be thrown out the window because there were no laws back then. Hmmn. . . It seems to me like a lot of the elite in the good ol' U.S.A are using illegal Mexican immigrants to do those jobs that those hugely obese Americans just can't be bothered with. The U.S.A. sends troops to fight wars all around the world, yet they can't control the illegal immigrant problem with Mexico? Seems like it not a "coalition of the willing" in Washington as regards to fixing this problem.

And, yes, the Mexicans, in general, are hard working, reliable and trustworthy people. I think they should legalize those already working in the U.S.A. I mean, they are now a crucial part of the work-force (economy). Look to your own politicians and not to the Mexicans who are only doing what countless other people have done throughout the history of the world, i.e. seeking to better themselves.

As for the bleating about the illegality of it all, the unfairness etc. Yes, it is illegal, granted. I wonder just how many of the bleaters are spotless, having never done anything illegal in their lives? Considering that Mexico is a neighbor of the U.S.A., maybe they should just legislate to "fast-track" suitable Mexicans for U.S. citizenship? Just an idea. :)
