Why are some americans so racist?

I think Americans forget that they came from some where else other then america. They like to pretend that they were here from the beginning and that this land is theirs. I also think that they are afraid of other races. Although I am sure none of them are Native Americans or mexicans that were in the southwest before the white people. they think that they can make america all white.

I would also like the make a comment to Jessica, If you did your research you would realize that it is not mostly illegal immigrants that are stealing social security numbers and messing peoples lives up. illegals only use those to work and most of the time the use a family members that has returned to mexico or does not work. The majority of the numbers stolen are from your fellow americans. Alot of time they are meth users and although those people seem dumb they actually are quite smart and cant tear your life up so do some research before you talk about illegals doing things. Besides the fact that the question wasnt really about illegal immigration but about racism. And I think that you just proved that maybe you are a racist. They have help for that you know.

i've been to 35 countries in my life.. and there are racists in every single one, including mexico. you can't change those few people, all you can do is rise above it and live your life.

I really dont know why they are like that,but i think every culture is racist about something.Maybe its because each culture has its own stereotype.seriously though,what woudl america be without immigrants?

Unfortunately, racist is a synonym of ignorance. When you do not know something you are afraid of it... racist people have always bad explanations or theories of their racist behavior, because they are just afraid of other races. Anyways, racism exists everywhere not only in America. Believe me (I live in Europe).

Why are there racists in EVERY nation on this planet?

Why do you assume that just because a person expects their government to uphold the laws that the rest of us already here abide by, and enforce the laws equally...even to those "looking for a better life"...that we are racist. If you're here from Ireland and you're not legal I want you to get the hell out. I make no distinction.

The main focus on Hispanics and in particular Mexicans is for two main reasons:

#1 70% of illegals are from Mexico.

#2 Illegal Mexicans and their offspring were marching in the streets waving Mexican flags....

This is why the attention is focused on Mexican/Hispanics, not because "Some Americans are so racist."

I don't know, but I suggest going back to school. How am I supposed to divine why half the country in YOUR eyes is racist? To make matters worse, you go on to make a fairly racist statement yourself. What if I were to call my race(Caucasian) "The Race"? Would you think that is racist? Of course because I am white. I am sick of the double standards. If I go around wearing a white pride shirt, or say white pride, I am labeled racist by default. Yet let a Hispanic person say brown pride, or a black person say black pride, and they are just proud of their heritage.... Seems kinda hypocritical if you ask me they can be proud, but I can't. Only in America.....

I suppose you are considering yourself in the "half" of America that is not racist. According to the PEW Hispanic research center over 65% of Mexicans think unfavorably of Americans and just under 15% of Americans think unfavorably of Mexicans....Now...that poll was taken before the "demonstrations", I would have to believe that the percentages of both parties have risen sharply since, but at the same time I would also bet that the unfavorable feelings from Mexico still out number Americans unfavorable feeling by a large margin.

Every person for illegal immigration should be forced to compensate these innocent people who have had their social security numbers and identities stolen by these illegals who invade our country with no care who they hurt. They should have to not only compensate the money lost from their social security accounts after they are zeroed out once the fraud is detected, but every last cent the victims had to pay taking time off work, every cent that went into photocopying documentation, every cent that went towards lawyers and gas driving somewhere to get this mess taken care of, and any other financial expenditure the victim had to cough up. They should also be forced to compensate the victims for the emotional hardships endured. They should have to compensate for the money and time spent trying to straighten out their credit ratings after these illegals have ruined them. They should be forced to compensate these victims for every single hardship related to what these illegals have inflicted upon these people. Currently, the system does not provide any compensation at all and a lot of people are never restored to previctimization status. Oh but these pro-illegals claim that illegal immigration is a victimless crime that hurts no one and that we are whining when we complain.

Then the people who want to appease them pull out the excuses about how people who are not even alive now, and haven't been for hundreds of years, 'stole' the land from the American Indians. Even American politicians are carrying out this traitorous attack on our sovereignty! If this keeps up, the United States of America will become a 3rd world country, just like Mexico! Mexico's problems are not the fault of Americans, but they are becoming our problems because the Mexicans are invading us and bringing their problems with them.

We do NOT have a shortage of labor, we have a large surplus. The more illegals that come in and take our jobs at minimum wage or less (often less) puts more and more Americans out of a job. Most of these Americans are never counted in the unemployment rate if they do not manage to get unemployment benefits. Unemployment benefits are hard to receive.

Illegals draw welfare by stealing people's social security numbers and identities. That means there are a lot of people being directly hurt by these people as well. Innocent people are having their credit ratings ruined, having IRS problems, and social security problems. If someone who has had their social security number stolen gets married, if either spouse dies or become disabled then they can be denied their benefits.

The illegals get welfare by stealing social security numbers and identities and using false papers. Therefore, the time limits under the Clinton welfare reform doesn't apply to them because once the time limit is up, all they have to do is get new stolen social security numbers and identities and false papers and start all over again. American citizens who draw welfare are limited to the time limits from the welfare reform and are then cut off. American citizens who fall on hard times and have to turn to welfare assistance have a harder time finding jobs that pay enough to live off of because the illegals have taken jobs and depressed the wages of those jobs still available to American citizens. Therefore, those in the lower working class are highly unlikely to ever be able to "work their way up" since the opportunities have been stolen which will entrap these people into poverty with little to no way out.

My family moved to the US before WWII. Those of my family that didn't make it over got killed by the death camps. Our family assimilated to the American culture. We didn't expect the Americans to change to suit us. The illegal immigrants from Mexico are not civilized like that.

They not only changed the National Anthem to Spanish, they changed the words. They already burn our flag and hang our flag upside down. They waved the Mexican flag during a lot of their protests. Some schools have stopped hanging the American flag and forbidden students from wearing clothes with any part of the American flag on their clothing all to keep from offending the Mexicans. It's nothing short of an attack of our country, not only by the illegal aliens, but those who seek to appease them.

I am tired of the stereotype that Americans wouldn't do the work that illegals do. Illegals do all kinds of jobs for less than minimum wage which drives the wages down for U.S. citizens. Construction jobs are an example. There are lots of illegals doing construction jobs that Americans used to do because the companies can keep more of the profits if they pay less for the workers. All that does is make companies wealthier and Americans poorer. Illegals are stealing jobs that Americans have done for years.

It is about a great national migration, a nation of people moving into our nationâ€™s land, in order to reproduce on it their own nation and people and push ours aside.

Thus, in orchestrating this war on America, the Mexican state is representing the desires of the Mexican people as a whole.

What are these desires?

(1) Political revanchismâ€”to regain control of the territories Mexico lost to the U.S. in 1848, thus avenging themselves for the humiliations they feel they have suffered at our hands for the last century and a half;

(2) Cultural imperialismâ€”to expand the Mexican culture and the Spanish language into North America; and especially

(3) Economic parasitismâ€”to maintain and increase the flow of billions of dollars that Mexicans in the U.S. send back to their relatives at home every year, a major factor keeping the chronically troubled Mexican economy afloat and the corrupt Mexican political system cocooned in its status quo. All countries have some elements of racisism and racist people. In the US, we have our share, but let's not ignore the fact that we must distinguish from illegal aliens and legal immigrants... and they come from all over the world, not just Mexico and other Latin countries...

What may appear racist to you actually looks like racism to many here too... for example, when the immigration rallies took place in Los Angeles, AMERICANS resented the fact that all they saw were MEXICAN flags.... how would you feel if your home country had so many illegals from another nation and they were spitting on your country?!?!?

I would love to know the answer to that question too. I was not born in this country and the older I got the more I saw that the Americans thought they were and are the greatest thing since sliced bread. I think they think that immigrants are taking stuff away from them. Well number 1, they would not do the work that some of the immigrants in this country do. SO how can they feel jobs are being taken away from them. Alot of it also has to do with the media and are current leader of the country he just makes things worst by some of the insane policies he comes ups with. We never had a problem before no all of a sudden with have this immigration problem. Well folks we are all immigrants. The only true Americans are the native Americans. The were her first and just look what the "AMERICANS" did to them. How unfair can we be.

Americans are not any more racist than any other people in any other country. Racism is a bigger issue here than in most countries because we have such a racially diverse population, and so we have to confront these problems more than most countries do.

For example, if you look at Korea, racism isn't much of an issue there because they don't really have many minorities in that country. But it's actually one of the most racist countries in the world! Much worse than America! They just don't have to confront it because there aren't enough minoroties there to make an issue out of it.
