Why are the French blaming us(UK) for their immigrant problem and telling us to do more?

I think that the arrogant French like to blame everyone else for ALL of their problems, look at the bloomin' fishing dispute only last week - that cost Britain Â£ millions in lost revenue because they were blockading the ports again.

The only reason they say that immigrants are heading there is because of our benefits system. The French give nothing away, but we give everything away. However, if they operated a tougher border policy, the illegal immigrants would find it much harder. So, they are making it easier for them, and that's not our fault.

Maybe they do have a point about the benefits system though. If we put the message out that nothing was actually free in Britain, then the illigals would maybe think twice about coming here.

Haha that's a joke if they are saying that.

I went on a ferry from France to Dover and at passport control the French authorities just waved a couple through who did not have the correct paperwork. They landed on British soil and I saw them again at immigration, now in our country and, therefore, our problem.

In my opinion, the French who are helping illegal immigrants into our country! We are an island for goodness sake!
How do they get to the Channel Tunnel to run through it if they haven't first managed to get into France?!

I agree with Ryan. Ok there are a few holes in the mosquito net, but who laid the big turd on the floor in the first place?

they blame UK only to be sure that the French newspapers and media report the news, actually they only say that for French people, to show they work on the problem and not really to the English government.

You know sometimes when we have no solution and want to show we work on the problem, we use means like this, but of course French people really love English ones

Im English and I think that they have a point. Everyone knows what a soft touch we are and word spreads quickly. Maybe if we soured the honey a little but I wont hold my breath.

They are right. If we weren't a notoriously soft touch there wouldn't be thousands of people camping out a Calais trying to get in.

Because they are trying to get into uk and obviously we are an island and france is the nearest mainland - they don't want to come to uk because its a wonderful flourishing country with lots of employment, they come here because our government is stupid enough to give then free money and housing etc France doesn't give them benefits because if I had a choice of living in UK of France with free housing and free money I would choose France, wouldn't you?

Why do the French blame you for their immigrant problem ? Simply because you blame them for yours !

It's an old tradition between France and the UK. France blames the UK, and the UK blames France.

Of course they're both responsible for the problem but, or they don't want to admit it, or their governments want to appear doing a good work and reject the problem on their "best enemy".

I can't understand the WW2 comment, I know the only argument the British have to make themselves appear better than the French is the early French surrender in WW2, but it's not a reason to insult the French history at the slightest occasion... The French, on their side, aren't that insulting towards you....

I think they blamed us for the failure of the maginot line too! some thing about us being over here, sitting around scratching our arses i think it was. only it sounded much more ((dramatic)) in French.
