In general we are not against immigrants, as long as they are legal and have a plan on how to make money once they get here instead of reproducing like rabbits and using tax payers money to support them with health care, food vouchers, and schools. |

To be fair, the US and UK were built, yes, upon theft AND a lot of hard work, invention, innovation, perseverance, logic, and even more hard work. The picture is far more complex then you paint it to be.
Why would you want to come here, anyway? You'd be associating with people you believe to be thieves. Isn't it better to just stay home with your morally superior native bretheren? |

This is the type of rubbish we are used to hearing from the loony left.
The lifestyle of the immigrants ancestors was greatly improved by the coming of the Europeans. Look at some of the news documentaries showing how some of them still live in poverty and shack type housing under their so called present day democratic governments. Before European intervention most of the third world lived like that.
Remember that 2 or 3 centuries ago before the industrial revolution many of the English peasants had a similar lifestyle. We worked hard dragging ourselves up by our boot straps to enjoy our present living standards.
The majority of the UKs immigrants don't want to do that. They want to jump the working hard stage, coming here from poverty, and leeching benefits from a system that exerts no controls on who gets what. You and I have our hard earned taxes dished out to them willy nilly by a labour government who sees them as potential supporters in it's quest for permanent power.
With regard to us hating immigrants coming here, there are the minority who come here to work and to integrate that are an asset to the UK. |

We may have taken what wasn't ours but isn't it about time that they stood on their own feet. I am completely pro-immigration but I think you are confusing legal immigration with illegal immigration. However, I do not understand why the government didn't like indians, but allowed immigrants. makes no sense whatsoever. |

Bollocks. The resources weren't stolen. They were won in wars and conquests. We fought for them and won. You lost. The third world countries were too weak and ineffectual to protect their own lands and so they were taken from them. Tough. Thats what you get for being weak.
Anyway, these countries fought for independence. Now they have it. So why are they coming here? Why are they not just enjoying their new found independence?
We have our own poor people here. Let the newly independent countries take care of their own.
Instead of blaming the West for your failures why not take control and make your own country a better one to live in instead of trying to leech from ours?! |

To answer your opening question of (1) "why is the West is against third-world immigration", I don't think that's a fair question.
Citizens of Western nations are not opposed to immigration. They are opposed to EXCESSIVE immigration!
But they gladly would --and do!-- welcome immigrants who assimilate and become productive citizens of their adopted nations.
As opposed to those who openly abuse and plot against the nations that were gracious enough to let them enter.
Or who entered illegally to similarly abuse us.
We oppose immigration that brings in excessive millions of low-wage workers, who drive down wages for our citizens.
We oppose immigration that approaches 50% or more of the population of cities like London, Miami, El Paso and Los Angeles.
We oppose immigration of people who do not assimilate and do not become patriotic citizens of the nations where they move, but instead invade with their language and culture.
In the United States, Mexican immigrants (in collaboration with the highest levels of the Mexican government) openly plot "reconquista", or reconquest of the U.S. Southwest, envisioning tearing away that region and taking it back for Mexico, in pure weight of Mexican immigrants.
In England, muslims openly talk about turning England into an islamic state, as do muslims in other European nations.
In France, muslims burn cars and riot for weeks, to extort concessions from the French government, for people who are anything but patriotic French citizens.
That is not "immigration".
That reaches a level that can only be seen as a threatening invasion.

In the example of Vietnam, what is their main industry?
Rubber manufacturing.
But before the French arrived to colonize Vietnam, there was not a single rubber tree in Vietnam. The French brought the trees and cultivated them, brought the capital to finance and build the industry, and when they left, the Vietnamese were left with an industry that was never there before Europeans arrived.
Far from "stealing their wealth" the French **CREATED** Vietnam's wealth!
Similarly, other industry and cultural development throughout Asia, Africa and Latin America. Europeans left these nations 50 to 60 years ago, it is the corruption by these local peoples themselves that has destroyed the roads, industries and legacy of these third-world peoples. They just find it easier to scapegoat Europeans for their own failures. |

We are not against immigration as a principle but what has disturbed so many people is the scale of the exodus from the Eastern and third world countries. Immigration can enrich a countries culture and population but as happened with the introduction of the grey squirrel eventually they became the majority and the indigenous population was dispersed as a result.
There have already been problems the mass influx of polish people has caused chaos in the lower paid roles that were traditionally taken by less well qualified locals. They work for less have no legal status and are often here illegally and so are not able to stand up for their rights and there is no control on their continued growth.
This also puts pressure on the NHS and other services to which they contribute nothing as they are working outside the structure of normal society.
Crime has increased as a result many areas see a huge increase in petty crime particularly where they are heavily represented.
To say that we are agains immigration is unfair we welcome those that come here and offer something in return a skill or bring some other attribute that helps and does not burden our own resourses.
I also take your point about stolen from the third world again as is seen here we did pay but I accept that we often paid well below market price. The problem is that ofter these payments were skimmed off by corrupt governments who use poverty and oppression as social control tools.
The silent majority in the UK may not remain so for too long and that could cause chaos.
