All immigrants should have the right to become legal citizens no matter how poor or uneducated they are, that's how most of our family members came here.

At what point does it stop. We were told in 1986 if we did this immigration would be reformed as a result we have another 1986 in 2006. The same arguments than are the same arguments today. Nothing has really changed.

they have to go through the propper procedures, we wouldn't want someone with no skills or a criminal, but as it is now the illegals are stealing jobs from deserving American citizens.

the operative word here is "Illegal" that would just be rewarding someone who broke the law getting here. No we should not do that, that would be 2 wrongs, and that won't make it right.

They could have if they would not have crossed illegally.

Reasons they may have not tried to come legally:
1. have a criminal record
2. think its easier to come illegally
3. just want to temporary work here and go back and not have to work for a while
4. have a disease that is incurable and prevents them from coming here
5. have a very unstable past, with many different moves, jobs, etc. and no references

Do you really think a person who comes to a country illegally and know what they are doing is wrong will in the future become a law abiding citizen? Let alone pay taxes. They don't even want documented. Don't you get it? They want a free ride, whether it is coming here for the benefits or coming here to work hard for a time and then going back and not having to work for a few years.

We have laws today on the books. Illegals did not stand in line, they butted in front of their compatriots patiently waiting in Mexico. That's why they cannot become citizens. You must play by the rules and earn citizenship and swear allegiance to America first, learn to speak English and assimilate. The current little annoyance from Mexico is in process of being fixed. You can blame the activists for gettting millions over here with most of their jobs about to evaporate. Then what do you think will happen in the streets? Huh?

If the job market becomes over crowded,wages,benefits,job conditions and everything that goes along with an excessive supply suffer a decline in quality.First,they are here illegally.No one is keeping them from taking the legal route.If and when they are caught,send them back.If the attraction (jobs&services)are taken away,the illegals may stop.Prosecute the employers of illegal/undocumented aliens.

We realize this and thats why we let them in legally. But there is a waiting list and a proccess that needs to be taken before entering. Everyone that comes in illegaly should be shot or put in prison for breaking the law.

Can I go to your country of origin illegally, get free food stamps, free public education, free health care, take jobs from your people, impact your country's ability to provide social security to the elderly, provide Medicaid to the disabled, sick and poor, march in your country's streets with a flag form my old country and protest. No, demand rights to citizenship and get it? No, I'm sure I would have already been shot to death somewhere between asking for food and education. Please go back to playing your video games and wait till your at least 12. Then talk with your parents. Till then, don't do drugs.

Something that a lot of people don't realize is that a lot of illegal immigrants have applied for citizenship. One of the problems is that the waiting list for citizenship into the US from Mexico is currently about a ten year wait. So if someone applies that will be approved, they will need to wait ten years before they can gain citizenship. The list is that long. I don't know the percentage, but a lot of these illegal immigrants are just waiting for their papers to process.

Your analogy of white settlers is a very poor analogy. First of all, there was not one giant nation here that the Europeans came to. There were a lot of Indian tribes. They were not one giant unified government. If you look at the French-Indian war, some tribes were fighting with the French, and some were fighting with the British. Secondly, the Europeans invaded the "country," or land mass that is now America, and killed a bunch of people to take over the land. They didn't have any sort of democracy to gain citizenship with the people here previously, nor did they have any existing government that could grant them citizenship.
